Evie's Point of View
I sat up from the floor where I was sleeping. I looked around and, to my disappointment, saw that I was still in the cell the half-beings put me in. "Damn," I muttered to myself.
I stood up and walked to the bars. It was still dark, but I could see a bit more than I could the first time I woke up. I could see the seki seki rock's smooth surface.
My stomach growled. I looked down at it for a second, wondering how I was going to satisfy it.
"Good morning!" I looked up and saw an usually cheerful Yajimaru approaching me. "How are you?"
I looked at him bored. "I can't believe you just asked that. How do you think I am?"
"I brought you breakfast." He unlocked the cell door, gave me the tray full of food and leaned against the wall.
"I'm not eating as long as your in here."
He glared at me, all traces of his good mood gone.
I dropped the food on the floor and it landed perfectly, with a couple of spilled liquid, probably milk. Then I plopped myself to the ground. Note to self: don't plop down on seki seki rock.
"So, why did you bring me here?" I asked. "I'm fairly certain you want to become a perfect being."
He nodded. "Yes, that is what I want."
"Then why haven't you done it yet?!"
"Do you know where the Eyes originated from?" he asked.
"What? How would I know that?"
He sighed, probably thinking I'm the stupidest person on earth. "Fine then, I'll explain to you the origins of Rachel and Michelle." I braced myself for the lecture. "Over five thousand years ago, the first of the soul reapers created the Soul King, who resides in the Soul Palace. If you know who Aizen is, you must know that that was where he tried to go.
"After the Soul King was created, the World of the Living, the Soul Society, the Dangai Precipice World and Hueco Mundo were borne, separating the living, the dead and the hollows.
"After the three species were separated, some soul reapers were curious about each one, curious about what it was that separated each species enough that they needed their own world.
"Collecting Reishi from each species, they started experimenting with each separately, learning the properties of each kind.
"Somewhere along the line, they came across the Eyes, and went to inspecting them immediately. Soon after they were created, the Eyes left the soul reapers and went to the World of the Living and they have stayed there ever since."
I stared at him in shock. How did he learn all of this?
"Now," he said before I could speak up. "I'm sure you're wondering who's Reishi was used to create which Eye. The Reishi used to make Rachel came from soul reapers. Michelle came from hollows."
"How do you know this?" I asked suspiciously. I had a feeling in my gut that he was right.
"I'm a half-being," he said, like that explains everything.
"Yeah, and...?" I used my hand and made a rolling gesture.
"Do you know what that means?"
"All I know is that your only half human."
"Do you want to know what the other half is?" he asked icily. I'd guess that he's not comfortable talking about this.
I didn't say anything, but my curiosity started growing. This question has been plaguing my mind for a long time.
