13: The Beginning... Of the End

Ichigo's Point of View

"Who is that women?" Evie asked.

We were standing by the window, waiting for class to start, and our teacher had just walked in.

"That's Ms. Ochi, our teacher," Uryu explained.

"Oh yeah!" Orhime spoke up. "When you first came here, Yajimaru was the teacher!"

"Why?" Chad asked. "Is there something strange about her that you noticed?"

Evie shook her head. "No. I was just curious. This is the first time I met Ms. Ochi, so I just wanted to make sure who she was."

The bell rang and we all moved to our seats.

About halfway through class, I found myself staring out the window. I blinked a few times, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Yajimaru was standing across the yard. I couldn't tell exactly who he was looking at, but it seemed to me that he was watching me and Evie. Evie, I could understand, but why me?

I glanced backwards at her. Evie noticed Yajimaru, too. She glanced at me and we made eye contact. She had a worried look on her face.

We shivered in unison.

"Did you guys see Yajimaru this morning?" Evie suddenly asked as we were walking to nowhere in particular.

Chad, Orhime and Uryu looked shocked. "When did you see Yajimaru?" Chad asked.

"Earlier this morning. He was standing across the yard," I interrupted/explained.

"You saw him too, Ichigo?" Orhime asked.

I nodded. "I'm not sure who he was watching, but to me it seemed like he was watching me and Evie."

"Are you sure?" Uryu readjusted his glasses in thought.

I shrugged. "No idea."

"It looked that way to me, too," Evie pointed out. "Let's go head to Kisuke's. He might've learned something, plus, Toshiro was supposed to see if he can make it back to the Soul Society."

We all headed to the Urahara Shop.

When we got there, Evie said, "Just give me a second. I want to change out of the school uniform." She ran off to the direction of her room just as Kisuke walked in.

"Hello," he said from behind his fan. "What brings you here?"

"We saw Yajimaru this morning," I explained.

Kisuke closed his fan, eyes wide. "All of you?"

"No," Orhime shook her head. "Just Ichigo and Evie."

"When did you see him?"

"This morning, about halfway through first period," I told him. "We came here to see if you figured anything out."

Kisuke slowly shook his head, lost in thought. "No, it's difficult to get to the half-being hideout. Besides, I've been busy trying to get rid of the lock on the Soul Society."

"Are you having any luck?" Evie asked, walking in. She was wearing brown pants, a yellow shirt along with her blue running shoes, black fingerless gloves and ponytail.

"That has yet to be discovered," Kisuke answered. "We were just about to try it when Tessai came, letting me know that you guys had arrived."

"Then let's see if it works!" Orhime exclaimed excitedly. I guess she wants to see Rukia and Renji again.
