Evie's Point of View
"Ouch!" I jolted up from the ground. I touched my right cheek. When I pulled my hand away, I saw blood on my fingers. I started glaring around the room, looking for the culprit. My eyes finally landed on a black cat sitting in front of me. "Who are you?" I hissed at it, not expecting an answer.
"Hi-" he was interrupted by my screaming. I was interrupted when he pounced on me, knocking me to the ground, using his front paws to cover my mouth. I started squirming, wanting it off. "Silence, you fool! It's me, Yoruichi!"
I froze and my eyes widened. "Alright," he/she said. "I'm going to slowly get off of you now. If you scream, we're going to get caught."
Yoruichi started, slowly, getting off of me. When he/she was completely off, I sat up. I looked at the cat suspiciously. "You're really Yoruichi?" I asked to make sure no one was pulling my leg. If this was Yoruichi, this would explain the red, yet not red spirit ribbon.
The cat rolled it's yellow eyes, and said, "Yes. Now c'mon, we have to go."
I stood up, understanding what she meant. "How am I going to unlock the door?" I asked, deciding to trust the cat. "I doubt I'll fit between the bars." She pushed something towards me. I reached down and picked it up. It was a key. "Where'd you get this?" I asked.
"I found it outside your cell." We looked at each other, knowing that couldn't just be a coincidence.
I walked to the edge of the cell and moved my arms to snake between the bars until I unlocked the door. When it opened, I changed into my hollow hunter suit. Yoruichi hopped on my left shoulder and said, "Let's go."
I ran down the hall, following the directions whenever Yoruichi told me to turn a corner.
Once we were outside, I started flying back to the direction she said was where Karakura Town was.
"How did you find me?" I finally asked.
"Hanbu came to the Urahara Shop looking for someone to show us the way here so we can save you."
I looked at her, surprised. "Really?" I asked. "Who else came with you?"
"Yes, he did. And I'm the only one that came. With my cat shifting abilities, I decided to go alone so we can make your rescue an easy in, easy out." She explained. Then she asked, "How do you fly?"
I stayed silent for a second, thinking of an answer. I finally came up with: "I'm not really sure. It kind of feels like I have wings on my back, but if they are there, they'd be invisible."
After another minute, Yoruichi asked, "Has Yajimaru become a perfect being yet?"
"No."
She looked at me with surprised, yellow eyes. "Really?"
"Yeah. I have no idea why he hasn't done it yet. When I asked him, all I got was an explanation on the origins of the Eyes."
Intrigued, Yoruichi asked me to explain. After telling her the half-being's explanation, I described the memory of the first hollow hunter the Eyes showed me.
"That's pretty interesting. Although, that would mean Captain Kurotsuchi is older than I originally thought."
"Captain?" I asked.
"Yes. A little over a hundred years ago, Mayuri Kurotsuchi became the captain of squad 12. He's also in charge of the Department of Research and Development."
We were soon flying above Karakura Town. Once I thought I was flying over the Urahara Shop, I started descending. I landed right in front of Kisuke, who was holding Yoruichi's clothes. Toshiro was standing next to him.
"That was quick," Kisuke remarked.
My cat-like companion hopped off of me. "We encountered no one, in and out. Plus, the key was, strangely, already there, waiting to be used." She explained what she meant by that.
I changed out of my hollow hunter suit.
"Where were the half-beings staying?" Toshiro asked.
"It's a fifteen minute fly from here," Cat Yoruichi informed him. "Don't think that it's a good idea to go invade them though. We didn't stay long enough to find out how many half-beings Yajimaru has on his side. That, and we don't have any Soul Society forces. Our army here is pretty small."
Toshiro nodded. "I know. It was just in case we managed to break through the lock the Soul Society has on it."
Kisuke nodded. "That is a problem we need to figure out the solution to. I wonder if the Soul Society has figured anything yet."
"Don't be stupid, Kisuke," Yoruichi interrupted him. "Of course the Soul Society knows. What I want to know is how far Captain Kurotsuchi has got to getting rid of the lock."
"I don't know," I spoke up. "But for now, I think I'm going to head to bed."
Kisuke nodded. "It's almost two in the morning. We should all get to bed."
We all walked inside and headed to our rooms, except Yoruichi who needed to go back to her original form.
As I lied down to sleep, I mentally thanked Hanbu for getting me out of there. I couldn't help but wonder if he got in trouble for rescuing me...
Ichigo's Point of View
"Yo! Ichigo! Get up already!"
I woke up to the familiar voice outside my window. I sat up, opened the window and leaned out. "Hey! Evie! When did you get back?" I called to her. I noticed that she was in the school uniform.
"I'll explain later! Just get ready!"
"Yeah, don't worry. I'm coming." I closed the window and quickly changed into my school uniform.
I opened the door to find Yuzu was about to knock on it. "Oh, good morning Ichigo. I was just about to tell you that Evie was waiting for you."
"Yeah, thanks Yuzu."
I walked past her as she headed to her room. I grabbed some toast for breakfast, picked up my bag and walked outside to where Evie was waiting for me.
"Hey. How did you get out of... where ever the half-beings kept you?" I asked as we started walking to the school.
"I got help from Yoruichi," she said. Then she explained how a half-being named Hanbu had come to Karakura Town in search of someone to save her. Yoruichi went alone to make her rescue simple.
"Has Yajimaru become a perfect being yet?" I asked her.
She shook her head. "No, he hasn't."
I looked at her surprised. I was sure that since he had Evie for about a week, he would've used this chance to obtain his goal, whatever it was.
She nodded. "It is strange. I asked him why it hasn't done it yet, but all he told me was the half-being explanation on how the Eyes were created."
"Really? How were they made?"
She quickly explained what Yajimaru told her. Then she told me what she learned from a memory from the first hollow hunter.
"Uryu's not going to be happy to find out how old Mayuri is..." I mumbled.
"Why's that?" Evie asked.
"Never mind. Let's just say... those two don't get along well."
Soon, we arrived at the school. The second Tatsuki, Orhime, Uryu, Keigo and Mizurio saw Evie, the relief on their faces became clear. Even Chad looked glad to see Evie was safe and with us again.
"Evie!" Orhime and Keigo exclaimed. "You're back!!"
