Evie's Point of View

"It isn't that bad down here," I observed. "I expected it to smell a lot worse than it actually does."

"I told you," Ichigo nodded.

"How did Yajimaru know about the sewer system?" Rukia asked as Hanbu started leading us to the enemy.

"He's been keeping a close eye on the Soul Society," Hanbu explained. "He has spies here. He knew about them since Ichigo came to save you."

Rukia and Ichigo widened their eyes in surprise. I didn't because I had no idea what he was talking about so therefore I have no idea how long that was.

We turned a few more times through the maze called the sewer system, when we felt a powerful spiritual pressure up ahead. It felt familiar, but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't Yajimaru.

Out of the shadows, the perfect being Mesu stepped out.

"Evie," she spoke quietly. "Ichigo. It's been a while." Then she turned to Hanbu, who was slowly trying to back up. "You're a traitor, Hanbu. Although, it doesn't surprise me."

I stepped forward to defend him, but Rukia put her hand on my shoulder. "What?" I asked impatiently.

"I'll deal with her. You guys find Yajimaru."

"Are you sure?" Ichigo asked.

Rukia nodded. "Yeah. Yajimaru is your fight, after all. I got Mesu."

"C'mon," Hanbu spoke quietly and walked in the opposite direction.

"Let's go, Evie," Ichigo urged when he saw my hesitation.

I gave in and walked after Hanbu, Ichigo next to me. "Good luck!" I called to Rukia.

"Don't worry about me," she said back.

When we finally caught up to Hanbu, I asked, "Are you alright?"

He didn't answer for a minute, lost inside his thoughts. When he finally did, he said, "I don't know. No offence guys, but if you lose, where does that leave me? I'm sure Yajimaru already knows that I betrayed the half-beings since I helped Yoruichi get to the hideout."

"Don't worry," Ichigo said. "We won't lose."

"We promise," I added.

Hanbu looked at me sadly. "You shouldn't make promises you can't keep, Evie." Hanbu turned forward and stayed silent.

Ichigo lightly punched my arm. "Good going Evie. You made him feel worse," he teased.

I stuck my tongue out at him, grateful that Ichigo managed to lighten the mood. I don't know how well I'll do if I fought while depressed.

We stayed silent the rest of the way, getting prepared for the upcoming battle. Words weren't needed at the moment, and I wanted it to stay that way.

After a few turns, we walked into a wider space. It was the size of an arena.

I was about to ask what this place was, when a voice that literally chilled me to the bone spoke, "Welcome, Hanbu Ariamasu. Ichigo Kurosaki. Evie Ressello."

Rukia's Point of View

"Don't worry about me," I said as Evie, Ichigo and Hanbu left.

"So, you think you have a chance against me?" Mesu asked, a smug look on her face.

"You're not going to go after them?" I asked instead.

Mesu shrugged. "Yajimaru wanted those three. He said I could eliminate anyone else that tried to follow."

"Well, you can try to kill me. But I promise, I won't make it easy."

We drew our swords at the same time, both resting next to our hips.
I decided to release shikai now. "Dance, Sode No Shirayuki." I shot ice at her, but Mesu sidestepped and it landed harmlessly behind her.

"Ah. Rukia Kuchiki. Owner of the most beautiful zanpakuto in all the Seireitei. This is the first time I've seen it, and it is quite beautiful."

"Thank you," I said. I guess this is someone who appreciates beauty. I just have to hope she won't be throwing cute plushies at me like the fullbringer Riruka.

She advanced slowly, enjoying her time. If she liked fighting so much, she should fight Captain Zaraki instead of me. Then they could be happy and psychotic together.

Instead of letting her decide on when our fight actually starts, I rushed towards her.

Surprised, Mesu managed to block my attack, but she flinched when our swords connected. Interesting.

"What's wrong with your arm?" I asked.

"Nothing," she said defensively.

"You were clearly injured recently. What happened?"

"I told you. Nothing." Mesu charged at me, anger controlling her actions. I jumped to the side just as she took a swing at my head. I almost fell into the sewer water. I dropped Sode No Shirayuki and she landed too far for me to reach.

I sighed in relief when I caught my balance. Then I turned around and saw Mesu glaring daggers into my head. She was fairly close to the sewer water.

I pointed the palm of my hands at her and shouted, "Hado number 31: Shakkaho!" The red energy ball hit her directly and Mesu went flying back several feet.

I lunged for my zanpakuto and raced towards her. Mesu stood up, but before she could react, I managed to cut off her head, which fell into the water.

I turned away before I could watch her body disintegrate. Three minutes later, I turned back just in time to see her clothes disappear.

Again, glinting in the light, I saw a tiny shard of Rachel. I picked it up and pulled out the other two shards. When the three were close enough, they started being pulled to each other. The cracks merged together, making it look like it was always together.

In the back of my mind, I heard a weak, feminine voice speak.
Thank you.

A/N Hey guys. Hope you liked the chapter. Man it took forever to get on here. Sorry it took sooooooo long. I had major writer's block for this chapter.

I just came to say that I made another account of wattpad with my sister mswinniethepooh13

We are going to use that account for stories that me and mswinniethepooh13 are writing together. So far we have one story on it, published, called Do I Belong?. It's a Bleach fanfic. Our shared account is called toshiron if you guys want to check it out.

One more thing. Thank you MerpderplerpDrowned for telling me the name of Rukia's zanpakuto. I told you it wouldn't go to waste! Well, at least, I hope you think so.

Anyways, Thanks for reading this far into my story. Feel free to
