XANDROS

We were sitting at the dinner table and I was eyeing Owen while Ms. Johnsonn was eyeing Ava. Owen lifted his eyebrows when I scrunched up my face which was my way of pleading him to save us. His features relaxed when he nodded and told me to relax. And I did relax. Because........... what could go wrong?

Ms. Johnsonn asked Ava, "Since when?"

She gulped, "A few months after the start of school-"

I interrupted, "A month."

Ava WHIPPED her head towards me, glaring the shit out of me when I turned back to my food. Okay, I had to shutup during sensitive moments. Ms. Johnsonn cleared her throat, "Why didn't you tell me, Ava?"

"I was waiting."

"For?"

I stopped eating. Exactly. For? What was she waiting for? To know if "us" was a right us, if I was the right one for her, if it was working out? Was she waiting for my role to see if we were compatible? Even if she was, I couldn't blame her as she wasn't technically wrong. She deserved to see if the person she is dating and calling her partner is compatible with her, is respecting her and treating her well. She had all rights.

Ava was silent when I spoke, "To see if we matched perfectly or not, before disclosing the news to you. A mother is always the one who feels more for her child and if Ava and I would have broken up, she would have been distressed and seeing Ava like that, would have disturbed you, Ms. Johnsonn. So, in my opinion, my girl did right to know if we both matched together, if we both completed each other and if we both fit together perfectly before disclosing it to you that she was seeing someone." Me.

And ten points to me, right here, right now, right this instant.

I looked at Owen who gave me a cheeky smile and nodded, which actually relaxed me as I knew, the mother would buy this.

Ms. Johnsonn swallowed her bite of brocolli when she nodded, "Understandable."

From under the table, Ava squeezed my knee when I bumped my knee with her. I always got your back, honey.

Ms. Johnsonn looked at me, "Sorry love, I didn't get your name."

Yes, because I didn't tell you. ANYWAYS, I swallowed my Coke and replied, "Xandros. Xandros Davidson."

She beamed a smile, "Oh that's wonderful. A very powerful name, indeed. What does Xandros mean?"

I was silent, turning my fork back and forth when placing it on the plate, I held up a finger, "Wait, please." and taking out my mobile, I opened Google and wrote, 'Xandros meaning.'

The meaning popped up when I read it to her, "Man's defender."

Owen spoke up, "IT FITS!!!!!"

Everyone looked at him when he said, "He just defended AG, so...... it fits." A small smile crept on my face when I kicked him from under the table. His eyes met mine when he dropped his napkin on the floor. Apologizing and getting under the table to pick it up, I showed him a thumbs up from under the table when he lightly bumped his fist against my knee. My heart exploded from the happiness when I was suddenly missing Tobs. He was also like this.

Another twenty points to me for living up to my name, and five points to Owen for making me realize :)

Ms. Johnsonn asked me, "So, Xandros?"

"Yes, Ms. Johnsonn?"

She chuckled, "Call me Amelia-"

"I'm sorry, but I can't. It's just.......... it's just rude."
