Okay, before we get into this can we just take a minute to obsess over Lady Lesso like I have been for a past week. I am currently only writing this story so it will take time. Hopefully not too much like my other works but bear with me! I will update as much as possible and will drop this prologue and chapter one for now. I am thinking a slow burn for this pairing but we'll see.

A/N: forgot to mention but this takes a similar route to the beginning of the movie but not fully.

~Tara's POV~

The white ceiling above me was my greeting for the day. I sighed as I contemplated getting out of bed until my door opened for me.

"Good morning, Princess." My maid greeted me as she flew open my curtains to blind me.

"Why do you always do that?" I groaned as I sat up in bed.

"One of my duties is to make sure you get up on time. It's your last day until you go back to the school." Ah, The School for Good and Evil is always welcoming until you fail. I fell back into bed and she just scoffed at me.

"Don't be dramatic this early. I'll let you pick what to wear when you leave if you'll get up now." I smiled and turned towards her.

"Now I remember why I like you." We both laughed as I got up to get my day started. I walked slowly towards the bathroom and looked into the mirror. My hair was a rat's nest; I'm surprised there aren't any living creatures yet.

"Meow!" I looked down at my feet and smiled as Ginger tangled around my feet.

"Good Morning babies." I picked her up and snuggled her for a few minutes. I gently put her back down and stripped of my nighttime clothing. I slowly descended into the hot water and sighed happily.

"Ahh..." I always loved having a bath in the mornings. The steam helped so much and I wished it would stay that way. I quickly washed my hair and my body before relaxing again. The water got cold far too quickly so I had to get out.

"I've laid your clothing on the bed for you Princess. Call if you need any help." I smiled and shooed her from the room. I adored her but some things I liked doing myself. I struggled a bit with the corset and yelled for help.

"This is new, isn't it?" I asked as she grabbed the strings herself.

"Yes, it is. I won't put it too tight but just tell me when." I nodded and held onto the bed post as she pulled to tighten the corset. It was at that threshold of being unable to breathe when I stopped her.

"This will take a while to break in." I muttered as she helped with a shawl around me.

"Thank you." She nodded and left as I followed her.

"Your things will be packed before dinner as you'd have to leave right after. The journey is quite long." I just made a noise as we made our way to the dining room. My hope is to find a prince this year and I won't have to return to this place. I loved my family but being the only girl meant I wasn't really seen like my brothers were. Jerome and Terrance were born first and were the heirs to the throne while I would be lucky to find a prince that was first in line.

"Watch out!" I ducked just in time for a sword to fly past my head and stick into the wall.

"I thought father told you to play with your swords outside." Terrance just shrugged and I rolled my eyes. Father was very strict about swords in the castle but Terrance didn't care. He struggled to pull the sword out and looked towards me.

"A little help?" I scoffed and walked over to him.

"We wouldn't have this problem if you'd obeyed father's rules." I grabbed the handle and pulled with my whole weight to dislodge the sword from the wallpaper.

"Tara!" I jumped as I heard father's voice approaching Terrance and I.

"Father, I just requested her help is all. I was playing with the sword inside." Father scoffed and motioned for Terrance to move.

"You're leaving right after breakfast for that school. Don't come back for the holidays either." I stiffly nodded and watched him walk away with Terrance. I felt water roll down my cheek and I quickly swiped the traitorous tear away.

"Princess-"

"Get my things ready, I'm leaving now." I walked out to the stables to find the carriage and saw none.

"I guess my brothers are taking the carriage without me." I got a stable boy to help me get a horse saddled up until my maid came out with a small amount of luggage.

"Apologizes. You're things were loaded up onto the carriage already so they should be already on the way to the school now." I smiled at her and nodded while taking the small bag.

"This should do for now. Thank you for everything." I hugged her tightly which felt like a final time. She has always been there for me since mother died. I was told she died giving birth to me and was given to the maid my entire life. I viewed her as my mother and I didn't want to leave her.

"I'll be okay. Go find that prince of yours." I smiled and climbed up onto the horse.

"Leave here when you can. I doubt he's any good company." She just waved me off as I rode away towards the one place I could call home.
