~Tara's POV~
I gasped out in pain as Lesso pressed down on my bruise again. The past week we had been meeting up to monitor the bruise I have closely. It seemed to only be growing and I couldn't wear my corsets anymore. The fabric of the dress alone was irritating but it didn't hurt. She hummed as she poked it again.
"I think that's enough." I gritted out through my teeth. I felt my dress get pulled up to cover my shoulders and she turned me around.
"I'm not trying to hurt you intentionally." I just sighed as I moved around her to sit at her desk.
"Have you found anything that could explain it? Or maybe reverse whatever this is?" I snapped out as I sat down. Sitting down was beginning to be difficult as it was spreading down along my spine.
"Nothing yet. I think I found something to help Dovey. It's a protection spell of sorts but it would imbue an object that she wears. It should keep him away so that we can talk with her." I just nodded and knew that meant I needed to get close to her.
"I know what to do. Do you have the spell?" She nodded and handed me a page with notes and the spell.
"Maybe her ring she always wears. It's very special to her but she hasn't been wearing it recently." Lesso informed me and I just nodded again.
"Let's get this over with." Lesso helped me up and we both walked over the bridge to the Good castle. I gasped as I felt the bruise grow more and I stumbled down onto the bricks.
"Tara?!" I couldn't feel my legs and I was scared. I looked up into Lesso's eyes that held a fearful look that was placed behind her Evil façade.
"Get me to Dovey. I can't walk." She nodded once and muttered something as she picked me up bridal style. Many of the students gave us weird looks but never stopped up. Lesso kicked open the door to Dovey's room and she gasped when she saw Lesso carrying me in.
"What happened?!" Dovey demanded as she followed us to her bed where I was laid down.
"She's hurt, I found her coming from the blue forest and then she just collapsed. She couldn't walk so I carried her here." Dovey started fussing over me and I sent a silent thanks to Lesso as we locked eyes.
"I've got her. You should get back to whatever you were doing before she interrupted you." Lesso gave a forced smile to Dovey and left the room. I saw the ring that Lesso was talking about on her nightstand. Quickly grabbing it I stuffed it into one of the many pockets that were sewed into the dress.
"Is it your back still?" I just nodded and sat up some so that she could pull the dress down to look. She gasped and then hesitantly touched it. My vision was blinded with a white light briefly and then it was gone. I panted as I looked back at her who looked scared.
"How did it spread so much?" She asked as she poked around it and not on it.
"Is there any way you can heal it?" I asked taking deep breaths in and out.
"Possibly. I have a book set aside I was reading about this." She then left the room so I fished the ring from my pocket and muttered the spell of protection. I then lightly threw it onto the floor so that she may see it. I hope that worked so that Dovey could come back. I looked up as the door opened but it was only Lesso.
"What are you doing here? She's going to be back any second." She smiled as she walked towards me and then her eyes glowed red.
"No." I pulled myself up into the head of the bed but she was faster. I held my breath as she dragged a dagger along my neck and down to the top of my dress.
