"Sun can you stop moving please."
Inside the protective cylinder, it was bright. The lights were bright and hot. Outside, however, was shrouded in darkness and was a void in which only the most malicious of things could hide.
"Sun, stop being so dramatic," Moon's voice rang out in the headspace.
"Oh, hush Moon. I'm just trying to have a little fun. And it's a distraction!" Sun rebutted, quickly listening to what Sage had said seconds before.
"Okay, Sunny! You should be good to go. The glitter glue is gone and you're good as new." Sage said cheerily while stretching.
"Oh thank you, Miss Sage! Those kids were very messy yesterday! I hope the glitter glue wasn't too hard to clean." Sun said already giddy to get out of the creepy room.
"Nah it wasn't too bad, just hard to get off while trying not to hurt you or mess up any wiring. Oh, wait! Before I forget we should make sure that your transformation isn't affected by the glue. Do you mind if I turn off the lights for that?"
"Oh of course not, Miss Sage!" Sun replied as Sage moved from the cylinder.
Once the lights switched, the transformation started. Everything went smoothly and Moon was brought out in seconds.
"Hi, Moony," Sage said in response to the celestial fronting. "How's everything been for you? Is your assistant treating you well?"
Moon was taken aback by this question. Did Sage know? Were they too obvious? Yes, you were nice and treated them well, that's why they liked you, but there was another feeling. It was weird and confusing, and fizzy too. They liked the feeling they just didn't know what to make of it. But Moon wasn't about to tell Sage about that.
"Maybe you should tell Miss Sage about it. She may be able to explain it! And an explanation would be better than taking forever to figure it out ourselves..." Sun said slowly trying to make a point.
"No Sun. No way. Sage will just think we're crazy or broken and try to fix us."
"When has Miss Sage ever just jumped straight to trying to fix us or think that we're crazy? I can't recall a single time she's done a thing like that. Please Moon, just ask her if not for me then for the both of us. Please. It could be extremely important."
"Alright, alright. I will. Now shush will you."
"Everything's been fine I guess. Our assistant is amazing. They're nice, kind, funny, good with the kids, pretty, and don't treat us like numb robots. I mean-" Moon starts, his gaze drifting to stare into the darkness of the room. The more he thought about his Starlight, the more he rambled on.
That was until he was interrupted by Sage, whose jaw had gone slack towards the beginning of the ramble, saying, "Wait, wait, wait. Did you say pretty? Three times? Moon!"
"Wh- what? Did I say pretty? I meant petty, yeah, petty." Moon scrambled, quickly trying to recover from his enamored ramble.
"Ohhhhh, no you didn't! You definitely said pretty. Moon do you like the assistant?!"
Did he? He didn't quite know. He knew he felt weird when he would think or look at you but that was it. Neither he nor Sun had ever been in close contact with any adult other than Sage and they knew for sure that they didn't feel this way toward her.
So the only thing Moon could think of saying was the truth, "I don't know."
"What do you mean," Sage asked while approaching the cylinder.
"I don't know. I- we don't have much experience relationship-wise. I mean, heck, the only adult friend either of us has is you. But what we feel when we talk about our Starlight or even think about them is completely different from how we feel about you. We get a fuzzy feeling in our chest when we think about them and when we make eye contact, we freeze and our processors heat up. It's weird. But it's good. The feeling is good and makes us happy."
