After a week of working in the Plex's daycare with Sun, you would think that I am used to some of the shenanigans he pulls. Sadly I'm not. It seems like with every day that passes, Sun gets even more comfortable with me which is causing him to open up more, which then brings the onslaught of ridiculous things he likes to do. For example, Sun purposefully tries to get me to stay longer at night. So, he'll get the kids to pour glitter glue and place stickers everywhere on him so that I have to stay and clean him. I've cut it way too close on multiple occasions but have made it out right before the doors closed every time. Sun also has gotten easier to help. At first, he always forgot that I was there to help and would freak out if I tried to pick up or do anything to help him. Luckily, now that he's opened up, I can actually do my job.

The days themselves went by quickly and were mostly free of any drama. No Karens. No potty accidents. No more throwing up. Everything was great. On my fourth day, Sun suggested that I find a way to have us wear matching outfits. Makes sense. My hoodies and sweatshirts were not going to cut it if I'm working here long term. So that night, I had gone home and ordered as many sun and moon-themed items as I could find and afford. I even went to shops in town for goodness sake.

Last night, everything I had ordered online came in. I was ecstatic, I couldn't wait to see the look on Sun's face when I showed up to work with these clothes on. And I had also decided that it was finally time for me to meet Moondrop. So laying out the best outfit for tomorrow, I got ready for bed and went to sleep.

Smoke.

All around me was smoke.

It seeped into every crack. Filled my lungs. Clouded my senses.

It was suffocating.

The room was bright. Light danced from ceiling to floor.

Fire.

It felt like I was in the center of the sun.

A crack.

A beam fell directly in front of me, breaking the ring of fire.

On the opposite side: a rabbit.

A white rabbit. It's dead, red eyes boring into my soul.

A glint.

The knife. The rabbit had a knife.

My heart was racing, my heartbeat pounding in my ears mixing with the constant ringing. The rabbit took a step towards me. And another. And another. Now it was skipping.

Go!

Picking myself up from the floor I ran, refusing to look behind me to see if the rabbit was running too. My feet carried me as far as they could to the corner of a room that I had run into. Checking for the rabbit, I felt its absence. Finally able to breathe, I looked at my surroundings. It was the Pizza Plex.

The Plex?

What?

While in my confused stupor, I failed to notice the rabbit's entrance. As soon as I heard the scraping, I knew I wasn't alone. Looking up from the floor I saw the rabbit and behind it was a body. It was dragging the form closer. And then it registered. Bodies don't make a metallic scraping sound when they are being dragged. Looking closer I realized what it was. The body belonged to Sun. His cut wires poked out of every joint and panel. His rays blackened and broken. He was missing an arm for sure and maybe some fingers as well. His eyes were blank, lacking the life that's always been in them.
