"Will you just get in there!" I say to my bag as I stuff it full of necessities. Of course, I thought it would be smart to sleep at the plex two days before Christmas Eve. Finally fitting the clothes into the bag I quickly zip it and head out of my room.
Holding the bag in my left hand, I make my way to the living room of my apartment to grab my work bag and the presents I had wrapped for the boys. Quickly looking over to check the time, I realized I was running ten minutes late and rushed out the door.
Once I made it to the plex and to the daycare, I tried to be as stealthy as possible, opting to take the stairs instead of the slide. Slowly opening the door, I saw that Sun was nowhere to be seen. Taking my chance to sneak in, I fully opened the door and ran to the security desk to hide my things behind it.
Not five seconds later, Sun appears in front of the desk asking, "What ya doing there, Sunbite?"
"Gah! Sun! Oh, uh... nothing," I quickly respond, shoving the presents under the desk with my foot.
"Are you sure about that," he says while leaning over the desk trying to get a look at what I shoved under there, "because it looks like you are trying to hide something from me."
"Nope, not hiding anything! Just dropped my... uh... my... ring! Yeah, dropped my ring. Nothing else."
"Mhmm. Well, you know what, Sunbite? Lying isn't allowed in the daycare. And if we find out you are lying, well, I just might have to ban you."
"Sun, you can't ban me. I work here. Remember?"
"Oh, right," he says before spacing out for a second, talking to Moon presumably, before continuing, "Well, Moon says he'll just punish you."
"Ahhh, so scary. The Moonman's gonna punish me. Gods help me." I say, my face showing my complete discontent.
Before Sun could retaliate, a swarm of kids arrived in the ball pit, distracting us for another day filled with... fun. And by fun, I mean a complete mess.
Most of the time the mess doesn't seem like such a big deal when there are so many kids, but when there are only ten or twelve, the mess is ginormous.
Since most of the kids are on vacation for the holidays, this week has been pretty calm. We're averaging eight to ten kids a day, the most being thirteen. We haven't been doing much, simply having them do arts and crafts for their parents.
Today I'm sitting with the kids as they make holiday cards. Some have Christmas trees, others menorahs and dreidels, and some were just doing things like snowflakes and snowmen. I decided to make a card with me, Sun, and Moon as snow angels. Sun was also hard at work on a project, but I never caught a glimpse of it. Multiple times; however, I saw him crumple up the card he was working on and throw it over his shoulder just to start working on another one.
Once naptime rolled around, Sun had finally finished his project and rushed up to his room to pick it up. By the time Moon came down, most of the kids were asleep.
"I see someone's slacking off," I teased softly, so as to not wake the kids.
"Sorry about that Moonbeam, Sun was just holding me up. He kept rambling about something," Moon responded, sitting comfortably next to me to watch over the children.
"I see. What was he rambling about?"
"He said not to tell you. But he did tell me that he believes you lied in the daycare. Is that true?"
"Well, not entirely. I'm lying because I have a couple of surprises for you both and Sun was getting too curious. I had to throw him off somehow."
"So you did lie... I think that calls for a punishment, Starlight~"
