When Moon said he would find a way to punish me I didn't think it would entail me being suspended upside down at least ten feet in the air.
"Moon let me down, please!" I shout trying to hold back a fit of giggles.
"If you insist, Moonbeam ~" Moon drawls before slowly uncurling his fingers from around my right ankle.
"No! NO nonononononono, wait! WAIT! Don't drop me! don't drop me. I give up!" I say finally releasing the belly laugh that I've been trying to hold in for ten minutes now.
After I had given Moon his present, he took it upon himself to "punish" me for lying this morning. The punishment involved me hanging upside down by my ankle at the top of one of the playground structures while Moon told extremely terrible dad jokes. He told me that if I laughed at them, he would drop me.
Once Moon pulled me back up to the top of the play structures, I instantly became dizzy and stumbled into his arms. I stayed there for a solid two minutes before finally opening my eyes again only to find Moon's face red as a cherry. His fans were working double time trying to keep him cool but all for naught.
Before I could say a word, Moon took off to the balcony and hid in his room. It wasn't until a minute or so after, that I realized I was still on top of the play structure.
"Moon... can you come get me down? I'm kinda stuck up here. Moon?" I sat there, still as can be waiting for any sign of a response. And still nothing.
Deciding the best option was to climb down the side of the structure I move to the edge. This'll be easy. Right?
Boy was I wrong. It took me at least ten minutes to get halfway down the side and I had already extremely overexerted myself. Keeping my goal of returning to the solid floor in mind, I kept lowering myself down. That is until my foot got caught in the netting. I didn't realize until I felt my head fall back and hit a hard surface.
I shouldn't be on the ground. I should be dangling from the structure. Then why do I feel the ground beneath me and why does everything feel hot?
Slowly opening my eyes, my face wrenched up in pain. The lights were bright and... wait. No. Nononononononono. Not again. Not tonight.
My visions were back. But I've never seen this part before. My breathing was heavy and my chest felt like it was cracked open. I could feel the blood pooling onto the floor from my chest. The fire lapped at my skin, slightly burning it. The pain was immense but filtered, like I was experiencing it only halfway.
Even as my vision was fading, the bunny was nowhere in sight. The last thing I saw before my vision completely faded was a purple light coming from somewhere in the distance.
When I woke up again I was still hanging upside down from the structure, meaning that Moon still hasn't come back from his room.
Carefully pulling myself up from where I was hanging, I released my foot and continued my climb down. As soon as my foot hit solid ground, Moon appeared from the room quickly coming to meet me at the base of the play structure. Turning to face him, I try to call my jittery nerves.
"You okay there, Moonbeam? I'm sorry I left you there I just... wait, are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost," he frets as he places his large hands on my shoulders.
"I - I'm fine. I just don't like heights and it took me a bit to get down here without your help," I responded, trying to keep my voice as smooth as possible, not wanting Moon (or Sun) to worry more than needed.
The look on Moon's face at my words was less than convinced but he just nodded as if satisfied. Seeing an opportunity, Moon guided me to the nap corner and sat me in his lap. He pulled a folded piece of paper from what was seemingly thin air (it was under the pillow next to him) and handed it to me.
"What's this," I asked turning the paper this way and that, not seeing anything too special on the outside.
"If you open it, you'll find out," Moon responded, the sarcasm in his voice not even trying to hide.
Opening it, I realize it was the drawing Sun had been working on extremely diligently earlier that day. It was of me, Sun, and Moon sitting around a tree with Santa hats on holding gifts. While it was no Van Gogh painting, I was still impressed with the amount of details Sun had gotten with crayons.
"Moon this is beautiful, but didn't Sunny make it," I asked, not wanting to come off as mean.
"Well Sun did most of the work but I was able to add a few other details once I came out," Moon admitted shifting slightly underneath me. "Sun had given me the go-ahead to give it to you now since we don't know when the power will come back on."
"It's beautiful you two, thank you, so so much."
My gaze softened the longer I looked at it. They had both spent so much time and care making it for me. It was probably the best gift I've received all year.
All of a sudden I heard myself let out a loud yawn. Quickly trying to cover it up, I jump to my feet and rush to go place the drawing on the security desk. But before I can even get two feet away from Moon, he lands right in front of me head cocked to the side looking at me with a stern expression.
"You're tired," he said bluntly.
"No," I retaliated, "just wanted to see if you'd fall for it, and guess what, you did. Hahahhah I'm so funny..."
Moon's expression just grew more exasperated. He quickly turned on his heel and walked to my overnight bag, grabbing my pajamas and handing them to me. He delicately took the drawing from my hands and placed it on the desk before scooping me up bridal style and bringing me to a nearby closet.
"Go change, it's nighty night time," He said before shoving me into the closet and closing the door.
I stood there for a minute dumbfounded before slowly starting to change into my PJs. As soon I had put them on it felt like everything had just gotten ten times comfier. Letting out a sigh of relief, I walked out the door and found that Moon had already made a pile of blankets and pillows. It looked almost like a nest funnily enough.
When I walked over to where he was sitting, he pats the spot next to him. Sitting down, I got pretty comfortable before I felt Moon slightly rest his hand on my shoulder. He slowly pushed on my shoulder until I was lying down before he lied down next to me. He dragged a blanket up to my chin and started to hum a light tune.
I felt myself struggling to stay awake at that point. There was such a soothing aura at that moment that I knew that I had never felt true comfort until then. As I closed my eyes for the final time before I drifted off to sleep, Moon whispered something that I couldn't quite catch.
"Sweet dreams, my love."
Wow it's like I haven't posted in like 3 months... yeah sorry about that. anyways nice lil update here and a finish of the sleepover. I completely lost all motivation for this but I've found it recently because the story has just been brewing in my head. There definitely will not be a normal updating schedule for this but I'll do the best I can. Goodnight my loves.
