HIIIII IM BACK AND FASTER THAN EVER. I had a lot of schoolwork to do and my social life took a ride so I was gone longer than intended. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
I was gone. I would never see my family again. I felt emptiness like a thorn in my side, egging me to try and fill it even without knowledge of why.
A wave of guilt washed over me. I knew this was going to happen. It still felt like a dream. Only earlier today I was talking to Mattholomule. Mattholomule..... MATTHOLOMULE?!?!?
That is what was bugging me. I felt guilty because I failed to protect him. I saw him crying at the thought of me going but now with that as reality how will he cope? I won't be there for him this time. He had enough trouble with his family life but who knew what would happen now that the draining spell had been active for so long?
We stopped it but what about the collector?
I just want to know that everyone is safe.....
Wait. What if Matty doesn't recognize me if we get back? I mean it might be months, years even! I just hope everyone is going to be okay.
I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't realize that I had tears spilling down my face, mixing with the blood sweat, and rain. Huh. Never thought I would get to sit in the rain. Human Rain. I just cried harder. Matty would have loved this. Now I don't even know if he is alive. Why am I thinking about him so much? Why do I want him to be safe and happy again? What's wrong with me?
I am snapped to reality by Hunter shaking me and waving a hand in my face.
"Hey, Gus, are you okay? I know you have family and friends there so I don't really have the right to tell you this but I think it will all work out in the end."
I shakily got up leaning heavily to one side and Hunter swooped over and let me lean on him. I wiped the tears from my eyes and with Hunter's help, hobbled over to where Luz now stood.
She silently led us down a dark winding path until we reached a street. Instead of the usual buzz that would be held in the streets of Bones Borough, there was an eerie silence and shadows that were pierced with the occasional light from a window. We reached a house and walked inside after Luz hugged someone, presumably her mom.
I pasted a shy smile on my face, after all, I had to keep everyone going, I was the one who kept everyone happy. I kept hope in their hearts. I had a job to do and I would not fail again.
Mattholomule Pov~
The world is a cruel, unkind place.
I was glad to be leaving it behind. The darkness was almost in my grasp.
And then I felt a bony finger jabbing me in the side.
"The fuck...?" Somebody mumbled just audible to my bearly conscious self.
I opened my eyes just to quickly shut them again when a bright light hit them. I saw a flash of pink. 'Oh god no' I thought.
I heard rain. Whoever they are must be sheltering in my house temporarily.
I opened my eyes again this time blinking to adjust to the light. And after they do three eyes and pink hair greet me.
"Oh, great, you woke up."
"What do you want Boshca?"
"To stay here."
"That's it? No catch? Last time we spoke I recall getting beat up by a certain pink-haired three-eyed bully."
"Look we both know I made a mistake and it's also raining so you can't exactly cast me out now." She stated with a triumphant gleam in her eye "Also, Why were you hiding here? You look like shit dude."
"WoW, NoOoO i ThOuGhT I wAs RuNwAy ReAdY, " I replied sarcastically.
Boshca just glared and sat on the sofa. "Seriously I am worried. Your eyes are bloodshot from crying. What happened?"
I took a deep breath and told her about everything from the plan to stop Belos to my crush on Gus. I have no clue why I told her. She usually would find any and every excuse to beat me up and now I was giving her more ammo.
As I spoke her eyes grew wider and wider. Then she asked a question that I didn't want to answer. "Where are the human and her friends right now?"
I started tearing up again and she just walked over and rubbed my back in circles like an elder sibling. I have no clue why she was being this nice, but I took what I could get, and soon I fell asleep listening to the soft sound of rain against the window.
