Human Rain (Gustholomule- Gus x Matt)

Catch

I came back again. I missed you all and I hope I didn't make you wait too long!

Mattholomule POV (I changed some of my formattings.)

  My eyes blinked open again. Where was I? It seemed vaguely familiar but only like I just saw it. There were stars in the sky and a figure looking out the window humming a forgotten tune.

The figure started singing along and I instantly remembered where I was and who I was with. 

"G-Gus?"

He turned as if he had forgotten there was another person in the room.

His eyes widened and in the moonlight, his eyes almost looked like a beautiful piece of chocolate brown glass. As I looked into his eyes I realized that tears were gathering in mine. 

I quickly wiped them away hoping that Gus didn't notice. Unfortunately, he did and in an instant, he was wrapping me in a hug. Even in pain, I could sense my heartbeat speeding up and my face warming.

I tried to push him off but in the process, I just pushed us both off the bed so I was on top of him. I winced and slowly stood, helping Gus up. 

I looked away, and upon catching a glance at Gus I saw he was the same shade of crimson as I, even growing into a deeper scarlet as a look of realization crossed his face. 

"U-Um Matty? I almost forgot. We have to share this room."
My face grew even warmer and I quickly said:
"It's okay! I'll sleep on the floor. I've been living like that for a while now anyways."

Shit. Gus's eyes were filled with tears this time. 

"What?" He whispered, his voice cracking.

I realized I had said too much. 

"Ummm I just haven't been sleeping well lately it's really nothing for you to worry about."

One tear fell and slid down his face.

"*sniff* If you say so, but you are NOT sleeping on the floor you are injured. I will sleep on the floor."

I quickly retaliated, not wanting Gus to be uncomfortable.

Before thinking I blurted,

"Why don't we share the bed?"
Gus's face went red again and I realized what I said.

"But only if you're comfortable with it!" I finished.

"N-No It's fine I just wasn't expecting it." Gus confirmed, "I was wondering. why did you pass out when I asked you about what happened to you? Do you remember?"

"I do know what attacked me but I won't tell you that yet, it's more, personal. However, I have no idea why I passed out. Exhaustion maybe?"

Gus just nodded, lost in thought.

Gus POV

I saw how fragile Matt looked. He would have never let anybody see him like this a few months ago. 

Something serious must have happened for him to change this much.

I crawled into the bed Matt followed.

You could see some cracks in the ceiling. I looked around and saw a picture frame. The person in it looked sort of like Matt but older.

"Matt, do you have any siblings who are in the emperor's coven?"

Matt froze.

"Yes, but he quit before the Day of Unity." He paused, "his name was Steve, Luz knows him and  he used to work with Lilith."

"Well I think this used to be his room, look at the pictures."

Matt's eyes started to tear up again and I instinctively pulled him in for a hug from behind. Soon we laid down with Matt still in my embrace. I don't think he was comfortable so I started to move away. Before I could Matt whispered, 

"Could we stay like this for a while?"

"Alright."

Narrator POV

Except he never heard Gus's reply because Matt was fast asleep, snoring peacefully in Gus's arms.
