Drop.

Drop.

Drop.

The sound of rain softly pitter pattering down on the window of the car outweighed the faint music coming from the radio channel.

When the soft drops turned to pouring down and a threatening thunder reverberated through the dark grey clouds, the next sound was a click coming from inside the vehicle, a switch being turned on.

The irking noise of windshield wipers screeching left to right on the glass surface now overpowered all of the above, the music was turned up again to change that.

The red lights flicked to green, reflecting its colour on the wet concrete road. Putting pressure on the gas pedal, the engine protested with some grumbles before accelerating, the entire row of cars that waited behind now back in motion, going into their own directions.

Trees swished from side to side and gushes of wind pushed against the car, which made the driver grip the steering wheel tighter to maintain in control of it.

The amount of water that had come down in just mere minutes created big puddles on the streets, wetting an unfortunate passer-by as the vehicle drove right through it, not bothering to slow down.

The faint scream of the woman was muffled whilst driving past her, but she made sure to glare before it drove out of her vision.

A cellphone started to ring loudly, causing the driver to let go off the steering wheel with one hand, glancing at the passenger seat to get a hold of the blaring device.

"Yes?" The individual spoke up, swiping the call to the right to answer it.

"Where are you?! We've been waiting for thirty-five minutes!"

The driver slacked against his seat hearing the voice, dropping the phone back down and staring thoughtlessly ahead of him, movements on auto-pilot.

"I texted you that I am on my way! The road's busy and due to the weather-"

"Nonsense! You were with that woman again, weren't you?! All you do is lie! Why can I never depend on you?"

"I'm not lying! Why do you never believe me?! I'm telling you the truth-"

"There you go lying again!
All men do is lie, stop that!"

"FOR FUCK'S SAKE, STOP INTERRUPTING ME, WOMAN! And don't you go and push your daddy-issues onto me now! I'm telling you the truth, and if you don't want to believe me, fine! Have it your way!"

The man gritted his teeth, subconsciously only accelerating. His mind was clouded, his ears ringing due to the person on the other end of the line screaming her heart out.

The driver surely drove through a few red stops, cars honking and people rolling down their windows to scream incoherent phrases at the reckless behaviour.

"If you aren't here within fifteen minutes,
we're done, do you hear me?! I can't believe this, you s-"

The car's breaks screamed bloody mary as the driver suddenly stomped down, ears blocking out every sound apart from his body's thumping heartbeat which was now to be found somewhere in his throat.

The phone that was previously resting on the seat flew up into the air at the action, hitting the window leaving a crack behind. The device tumbled back down, broken, the call abruptly ended.

His eyes widened drastically, hands turning the steering wheel to the opposite direction but to avail. The road was way too slippery because of the storm, the asphalt not giving enough grip for the tires to come to a halt before it was too late.

About ten metres in front of the vehicle, a male in his young adolescence years hastily crossed the road without looking, trying to not get too soaked. He seemed too occupied scrolling down on his phone, white earphones blasting his newest, favourite releases into his eardrums causing all of the other sounds to be blocked out.

That was, until a roaring, continuing honk of a car seemed to get closer and closer, making him freeze in his steps as he shot his head to the right, his music long forgotten.

In the midst of the moment he frantically glanced around, the street desolated and no one to be found due to the drastic weather.

He wanted to get away, he really did. But his body was stuck in place, his brain not functioning properly because of what he was witnessing. In the back of his mind his conscious screamed at him to move, but as the giant vehicle only got closer, the more everything went awfully silent.

He wasn't breathing. He forgot to breathe the moment he saw the accident coming towards him at full force.

The car rolled towards him regardless of how hard the man was stomping down on the breaks, the wet road making him lose his very last form of control.

The younger male's eyes darted over the car, the number plate being the last thing he saw before shutting his eyes tightly, a deep frown on his face as he awaited the impact. He could only hope it would go quick, so he'd have to suffer through less pain. He didn't want to end up on the concrete with broken limbs, only half gone. He could never imagine it. He actually never imagined his death before. He never once considered how he'd die.

Perhaps he automatically presumed from old age, after having lived a perfectly happy life. Achieved many things and pursued many dreams. With his own happy family. Maybe his partner by his side to hold his hand whilst he'd pass away.

He admits, perhaps he considered it about once, or twice.

But he never thought of this scenario.

So when the impact came, it was everything but how he imagined it.

At least he didn't suffer.

After the deafening crash, combined with the heavy rainfall and thunderous sky, everything somehow turned eerie silent.

The way the car managed to end up upside down and the horrific scene that came along with it would've hushed every individual that witnessed it immediately. For it would be imprinted forever, perhaps awakening them in the middle of the night because they dreamt about it.

However there wasn't a single soul present that day, when the accident occurred.

Or at least, that's one of the very last thoughts the younger male had before it all happened so quickly.

But he had looked wrong.

There had been someone.

But the moment the accident happened, the person vanished just as quickly.

And the scene of a car upside down, with faint and stuttering music still managing to play; blood sputtered seemingly everywhere but with yet only one body present, was left to be found by authority, or an unfortunate passer-by.
