A fake loud cry killed the silence in the room, a head thumping against the desk a few times caused the glass of water to inch dangerously close to his laptop. It made the other person in the room snicker at the sight.
"You're being overly dramatic. You'll find something, don't fret about it!"
The person's head to whom those words were directed shot back up, what was supposedly a glare now being shot towards his friend.
"Taehyung, I'm telling you, stuff like this takes time! This is an important decision you have to make, you can't rush things like these! You just switched jobs, which is great, but you can't just switch houses as easily. Especially in your case. You want to move out of a rented to an actually bought home, in which you're planning to live in forever."
The aforementioned groaned, slumping back in his chair and lifting up his hands to make some frantic gestures towards his laptop. He opened his mouth, but instead of words a shriek came out because he toppled over his glass of water which was to be foreseen. He quickly ran to the kitchen to grab something to clean the mess up with.
"Jimin, the only reason I'm acting like this is because I'm starting my new job in two months. By then, I need to have found something because the drive from here to my new position is three and a half hours. The job requires me to move, and even if it didn't, I still want to move within two months because I'm impatient." The male's last sentence came out as a huff. He crossed his arms over each other, looking back at the other male present in the room making sure his last sentence came out as the statement of the year.
Shaking his head, Jimin stood up, bringing his phone along with him. He put his hand on the chair his best friend was sitting on, spinning him around so he could see what was on display on the screen.
"Well then, take a look at this." He dropped his phone in Taehyung's hands, wiping the last remains dry and heading back to the kitchen to discard of the wet towel.
"Jimin, you're a genius." Taehyung stated plainly, excitement bubbling up in his body as he swiped through the pictures.
"I know, I know, what would you ever do without me? Now go send the salesman a message, you wouldn't want to be too late now, would you?"
──────👻──────
Taehyung wasn't too late.
Or at least, that's what the salesman had told him the moment he called him up.
A week later, he found himself waiting impatiently in front of a red stoplight, his pointy finger tapping on the steering wheel and his leg bouncing up and down rapidly.
He had overslept and due to the busy roads, he was going to be too late for his house-sighting appointment.
He muttered a quiet curse, immediately accelerating once the lights flicked to green.
About half an hour later, he finally reached his destination. Parking his car in front of the giant building, he switched off the engine and rushed out, almost forgetting to lock the vehicle as he stumbled over his own feet clumsily.
He dashed towards the entrance, fixing his attire and hair and trying to take some deep breaths since he sounded like he just ran a marathon before he opened the glass door.
He glanced around, deciding to walk towards the reception desk.
"Good afternoon, I have a house-sighting appointment with Mr. Jung? I'm a bit late, my apologies." An uneasy smile crept up his lips.
"That's okay! Just wait over there, Mr. Jung will come to you when he's ready." The man behind the counter pointed towards a neat couch, making Taehyung nod.
Releasing the being-too-late stress by sighing, he took out his phone and replied to one of Jimin's messages before a man walked up to him a few minutes later, calling out his name.
"Mr. Kim Taehyung, is it?" The mentioned's head snapped up, sticking out his hand. "Oh, please, call me Taehyung."
The man smiled, taking his hand, "Call me Hoseok. I'll be the one to give you the tour of the house you were interested in and provide you with all the necessary information. If you have any questions or whatsoever, make sure to ask! That's what I'm here for."
Taehyung listened as they walked towards a car, Hoseok grabbing his keys to unlock it.
"The house is a small fifteen minute drive from here. My apologies for making you wait, my previous appointment took a bit longer than expected."
"Oh no, no worries! I was a little later myself due to the heavy traffic. You didn't keep me waiting for long. The only thing that's torturing me right now, is my curiosity."
The man next to him laughed, taking a turn.
Taehyung glanced at his surroundings, the thought of this being a possible new area for him excited him.
"Is this the first house-sighting, or have you gone to others as well?" The question made Taehyung glance back at the male next to him.
"It's my first, actually. I find it quite difficult to find houses that are actually worth looking at, are in my price-range, and are closer to my job."
Hoseok hummed, "So are you from around here, wanting to just move closer to your job? Or..?"
"Actually I just had a switch of career paths, and I'm starting my new position within two months. From where I'm located now, the drive from there to my new job is three and a half hours. The job requires me to move, and even if it didn't, I personally would just really like a change of scenery and such. It's going to be my first -and hopefully last- actual own home ever. I'm currently staying at my best friend's apartment back in Seoul."
The man next to him 'aah'ed' in understanding, listening with interest as Taehyung kept talking.
"As you can probably imagine, I don't want to be a burden for much longer when it comes to my friend. I've been living with him up till the point I've graduated from college. He says it's fine and that he enjoys my company, but I'm a healthy functioning adult and of course I can't stay with him for forever. He has his own life to get back to, and I need to focus on mine. I'm disappointed about the fact that I'll be seeing him less and the upcoming distance between us, but you can't have everything."
Taehyung finished, the car taking an additional turn which made him look outside once more in curiosity.
"I understand you fully! I really do. I'll tell you all about my experiences and such, but first, let's go and take a look inside, yes?" He smiled gently, rolling up next to the house and turning off the engine once they arrived in front of it.
"We're here!" The man beamed, stretching his arms wide whilst the both of them were now staring at the sight in front of them.
