Being a Shinobi (An Itachi Uchiha fanfiction)

3. The Broken Seal

5 years later.

A 15 year old Itachi Uchiha was in the Konoha HQ to submit his report to the Hokage. He was the youngest to have ever become an Anbu. He joined Anbu at the age of 11 and became a captain for his own squad at 13.

Itachi was soon entering high school. Many young shinobi find it difficult to manage both school and their shinobi life but not Itachi. He was a born prodigy. He excels at school as well as his Anbu career.

He knocked the Hokage's office and heard a 'come in' from Lord Fourth. He entered and saw a bunch of genin teams lined up including his brother's team. "Elder brother!" Sasuke whispered quietly looking at Itachi. Minato asked Itachi to wait for a minute and continued explaining the joint mission to the 4 teams lined up.

It was team Guy, team Asuma, team Kurenai and team Kakashi. "You better give us some good mission instead of chasing away some D class deviants." Naruto said huffing in annoyance. "You will be dealing with a swarm of C class deviants that have been reported to be spotted in that area. I want you to ensure everyone's safety and get rid of every deviant there. Is that clear?" Minato asked to which everyone nodded and Naruto jumped enthusiastically earning a smack from his team member Sakura.

Minato then recieved a message and his eyes widened as soon as he read that. Before he could say anything they heard a loud noise and the entire building shook like an earthquake hit them. "Kurenai and Asuma, inform the other clan leaders about this and tell them to be here at once and evacuate everyone from the building. Gai, Kakashi and Itachi, you are with me. I am officially announcing a level 1 threat." Minato said making everyone's eyes widen.

Soon Minato, Gai, Kakashi and Itachi found themselves rushing to the basement. "What is happening sensei?" Kakashi asked sensing something wrong. "Lord Third messaged me. He said that the seal of Jyuubi is broken." Minato said making the other 3 widen their eyes. Minato tried calling Jiraiya but he wasnt able to reach him.

Minato used his fingerprint to open the basement and entered a room surrounded by a powerful barrier. Inside the barrier was a mirror shattered into pieces. Minato cursed as soon as he saw that. "The Jyuubi was sealed in a mirror?" Itachi asked to which the Hokage replied with a yes.

"This is bad. If the Jyuubi comes out, we are done for. Gai, I want you to assemble every possible Jonin available." Minato said which was agreed by Might Gai and left to fulfil his order. A few minutes later Fugaku, Hiashi, Kushina and Nawaki were there. "Minato! Whats happening?" Kushina exclaimed in shock.

"I have no idea. The mirror is broken but I dont know whats happening." Minato said honestly still standing outside the barrier that was errupted. "Where is Lord third?" Fugaku asked. "He was the one who informed me but he isnt anywhere to be found." Minato said. "I cant reach big sis either." Nawaki said freaking out. "I tried calling Jiraiya sensei but I cant reach him." Minato said.

"We need to strengthen the barrier further. The jyuubi cant come out." Hiashi said which the others agreed. Everybody took their position including Itachi and Kakashi. They need all the help they can get. Just when they all where about to weave hand signs, a portal opened and they all were able to feel the blood lust of the Jyuubi.

Soon they weaved hand signs strengthening the barrier. The jyuubi hasnt comeout of the portal yet. The mirror was shattered. Nobody knows what was gonna happen next. It has been a few hours and the jyuubi showed no signs of coming out of the portal. Everyone was so confused yet relieved. Several jonin were gathered in the HQ. Anybody nearby was evacuated.

Suddenly all of them felt an overwhelming presence. A loud roar was heard and the Jyuubi's head came out of the portal. Everybody was on high alert using all their chakra to keep the barrier intact. But the Jyuubi was pulled inside by something before it could get out.

A good 15 minutes later someone came outside the portal alerting the others. They saw a guy with pure white hair come out, his bangs covered his eyes and he had a passed out lady in his arms. Nawaki's eyes widened as soon as he recognized the lady as his sister Tsunade. She looked old and wrinkled. It could only mean one thing. She used her 100 healings jutsu.

"Who are you?" Nawaki shouted looking at his passed out sister in the guy's arms. The guy raised his head and everybody gasped seeing his eyes. "I am Shinya. Shinya Otsutsuki." He replied making their eyes widen. "Take down the barrier. The seal needs to be fixed and she needs immediate medical attention." Shinya said. Minato recognized him from the picture Jiraiya showed him five years ago. He was a kid back then but now he is grown up.

His honey blonde hair was changed into pure snow white and his eyes are now ripples of purple, Shinya awakened the rinnegan. Minato instructed everyone to take down the barrier which they did. Nawaki immediately rushed to take his sister. Shinya then raised a single hand and the broken mirror gathered together with a glow, looking good as new making everybody's jaw drop. Itachi and Kakashi had no idea what on earth was going on. How come there was an Otsutsuki alive?

"Where is Jiraiya sensei? What exactly happened?" Minato asked making Shinya sigh heavily. "You must be Minato Namikaze, the Yellow Flash." Shinya said. Nawaki and Kushina rushed outside with Tsunade. Fugaku, Hiashi, Minato, Kakashi and Itachi were the only ones in the basement.

"We were on our way to Konoha when we met the other old man. Old man Jiraiya called him sensei." Shinya said and they all understood that he was talking about Lord third. "I then sensed something terribly wrong. I dont know how but I opened a portal and all of us were in this basement. The mirror was shattered into pieces and a portal was opened. I saw my eyes became purple." Shinya explained while Itachi noticed how hard the guy was clenching his fists.

"The mirror was the gateway to the realm where the Jyuubi was sealed. We entered the portal and I closed it so that the Jyuubi wouldnt escape. As expected the Jyuubi broke free from the seal. All 4 of us including my own sibling Hiyori fought to seal that damn beast. But the Jyuubi managed to open another portal and tried to get outside. It took some time but managed to seal it. Tsunade and I are the only survivors." Shinya replied exhaling shakily. The others stood in shock taking in what he just said. "You.. you fought the Jyuubi?" Kakashi asked making him nod.

"I apologize. I wasnt able to protect them. Not even my own family." Shinya said clenching his fists. Minato immediately went and hugged him making him audibly gasp. "Its okay kid. You saved countless lives today. Jiraiya sensei would be proud of you." The Hokage comforted him concealing his own emotions of losing his sensei.

Everybody was gathered for the funeral of Hiruzen Sarutobi and Jiraiya. Konohamaru was crying for losing his grandfather whereas Naruto for losing his Pervy sage. The news about Shinya Otsutsuki spread like wildfire among the shinobi. Nobody has ever known to see or fight the Jyuubi exept Kaguya Otsutsuki.

To think there was someone who fought Jyuubi and sealed it away made them really grateful. They were really happy to know that the Otsutsuki clan isnt perished yet. But Shinya felt like trash. He couldnt even protect the ones he cared about. Jyuubi wasnt like any deviants he faced in the past. It was huge and reeked of blood lust like any other. He is still surprised to know that he survived from that beast.

Shinya stood in a corner with a hood over his head and a pair of sunglasses to cover his eyes. He saw someone come and stand near him. He recognised the kid from the day he sealed the Jyuubi. "I am Itachi Uchiha." He introduced himself.

"Father told me about you. If the Jyuubi should have escaped, countless people would have died. I know the feeling of losing someone you care about but death is an inevitable part of being a shinobi. All those people there consider you their saviour but its okay to mourn. You are not alone." Itachi said looking at him. His words surprised Shinya. It somehow comforted him.

"He is right. You are not alone." Another person joined them. Shinya also recognized him from the other day. "I am Kakashi Hatake." The silver haired jonin introduced himself. This brought a small smile to Shinya's lips. "Thankyou. I needed that." He said grateful to the 2 of them.

Shinya was still 18, he wasnt ready to lead and give orders like a Hokage does. So it was decided that Minato will continue to be the Hokage until Shinya gets a hang of how things work in the shinobi world.
