29. A Family Reunion

Shinya realized that Konan's paper was glazed with poison and it was entering his body rupturing his chakra network. Normally poisons dont work on him and his regenaration abilities compares to none. But this poison was having an effect on him which reminded him about the possible weapon they came up with to defeat him. Before he could reflect upon this fact, the person took his shot aiming straight for the Otsutsuki when something unexpected happened.

A mud wall appeared from the ground blocking the dart that was aimed for Shinya and the person who shot the dart was abruptly thrown in the centre. Shinya's eyes widened as he recognized him. "Dad?" He asked completely shocked. Shinya had no idea his father was alive. He didnt seem to be a reanimation. "S..shinya! Inora! Oh my! You are alive." the man exclaimed hoping to make them buy his act.

"You suck at acting old man." They heard a voice as a brunette came forward holding the gun which shot the dart aimed at Shinya. "You.. who are you?" He asked while Konan and Pain also seemed to be in the same dilemma. "Is that you Hiyori?" The mother asked as she recognized her daughter. "Hey mom! Its been a while huh? A family reunion after 20 years. I almost forgot how you look." She said as she stood beside her brother.

The mother's eyes brimmed with tears. "Inora honey! Our children have grown to become monsters. You should believe me." The man exclaimed still surprised to know that his daughter was alive at his late wife who was reanimated making Hiyori laugh. "Believe you? You were the one who left us to die and saved your own ass" she said making his eyes widen. Even Shinya looked shocked.

"I was just 2 years old. And you just left us there with that thing and ran away like a damn coward. Not to mention you have been working with the Akatsuki to kill your own son." She said looking straight at his eyes making him shiver. She then looked at her mom. "Dont worry too much mom. We can handle this ourselves." She said with a smile.

Her soul started to break free as she heard that. She gave a huge hug to both her kids. "I love you so much. Forgive me for putting you in this mess." She said as she was slowing disappearing. "Its not your fault mom. A lot of things happened in these 20 years. So believe it when we say it, we got this." Shinya whispered as he hugged his mother back still disturbed about the news of his father.

As soon as their mother was out of the way, Shinya glared at his father. But before he could do anything all the Pain launched at him. Hiyori gave him a reassuring nod as she engaged with Konan. She was able to tell that Shinya's chakra was dropping and the effects of the poison were spreading. She needed to do this quick. "I am sorry. I need to finish this fast." She said and within a matter of minutes Konan was dead.

"I understand your pain but what you seek for isnt the solution. Forgive me." Hiyori said and those were the last words Konan heard before she took her last breath. She then turned to look for the man she once called as her father. It didnt take her long to find him. He was in the basement and she was able to sense deviants. "Attack." She heard his disgusting voice.

A bunch of deviants launched at her. It didnt take long for her to finish those off. He looked utterly terrified. He loaded another gun with the poison and shot her but she blocked them easily. "Your attacks wont work. The element of surprise was your only key to victory. But now that you have lost it. You are nothing more than a mere fly in my way." Hiyori spoke, her voice threatening.

This was something he never expected. He thought Hiyori died fighting the Jyuubi. Never in a million years did he expect his daughter to show up after all these years to ruin his plans he has been working for several years. He cant help but remember the events that happened over 20 years ago.

Kenji Kogami always knew that there were many things in this world hidden from normal eyes. He was someone who seeked knowledge and power. He was a curious man who wanted to unravel the mysteries of the world. The tale of the Goddess of Otsutsuki isnt something uncommon. It is nothing more than a old story to many people. But the story stirred the curiosity in Kenji.

He wanted to learn if there was any truth behind that story. He learned that there was a family called the Otsutsuki but none of them were alive. It was during his days in college he saw something he would only describe as magnificent. He saw a guy about his age or maybe older fighting some creatures that looked like something out of a manga. He also noticed a pretty woman who looked terrified.

Kenji hid himself as he watched the scene unfold. The guy's eyes swirled crimson as he killed those creatures with precision. After killing them, he looked at the woman who was shaking in fear like a leaf. He reassured the woman and erased her memories of ever meeting him which Kenji watched carefully.

He was in awe to know about his. He wanted to learn more. He couldnt go after the guy so he went after the woman Inora whom he learned was studying in the same college as him. He pretended to get closer to her to learn the truth not knowing that her memories were erased. But he never gave up.

Soon he learned that these creatures were called deviants and the people fighting them were called Shinobi. He also learned that the guy he saw that day was Kagami Uchiha. He researched more about the Uchihas and learned that there are many clans among the shinobi. He started researching more about this to feed his curiosity.

He needed money to fund his research, so he used Inora who was madly in love with him. He had no interest in her what so ever but she was from a wealthy family. He used her as a means to obtain funds. He pretend to date Inora Ashido and use her to his liking. Inora was a brave and confident woman but her weakness was falling in love with a complete douchebag without realising.

He never intended to go any further with her. But one day she said that she was pregnant with his child. He really wanted her to abort the child but her parents wanted them to get married. He didnt have a choice. If he were to just leave her, he wouldnt get more funds for his research. So he married her and she gave birth to a boy who was named as Shinya. Shinya looked a lot like Inora but his hair was the same color as Kenji, honey blonde.

Inora knew her husband was a scientist but she never questioned his research. Nobody was allowed to his lab in the basement. Kenji managed to get a hold on some petty D class deviants to research on. He also pinpointed shinobi kids and kidnapped them to research and learn more about the concept of chakra.

5 years later, Inora gave birth to a baby girl named Hiyori. Hiyori didnt look like either of them. She looked a lot like her Grandma but she had the same hair color as Kenji. They were a happy family. Despite all the things Kenji did, he always managed to put an act of a loving husband and a caring father. One day, they recieved a message that Inora's parents died in a accident and that gave Inora all the inheritance to their wealth which made Kenji more than happy.

He was learning a lot of things from his research and was really interested in learning more about what they called the Sharingan. He wanted an Uchiha specimen to research on. On one lucky day, he happened to witness a similar scene that happened many years ago. The same guy, Kagami Uchiha was fighting several deviants at once.

Kenji wanted to learn about the sharingan. He watched in awe as Kagami killed those creatures but was badly injured. He went near the Uchiha as he laid down bleeding heavily. Kenji looked around to see if there was anyone else. He then killed him with his own hands taking advantage of his weakened state not knowing that he had a son named Shisui who was almost the same age as his own son. He wouldnt care even if he knew and took him as a specimen.

Hiyori was a curious kid, something she got from her father. Kids cant help but want to do things they are restricted from doing. Everyone in the house knows that nobody is allowed in the basement. Despite being a 2 year old , she was really sneaky and cunning. She stole the keys from her Dad and opened the basement after standing on a stool to reach the keyhole to get a look at what her father was hiding.

She hoped to see glass tubes, acids, chemicals and  such cool stuff they show in movies but what she saw made her freeze. Little did she know that it would turn her life upside down.

Just to be clear. Shinya and Hiyori's mothers name is Inora Ashido. Later in the story Hiyori will use the same name as a cover.
