22. A Massacre

3 months later.

The preparations for war has been happening at an accelerating rate. Every single shinobi was gathered and given instructions. Supplies of food, weapons, medical supplies etc were being gathered. All the shinobi were mentally and pyshically preparing themselves to face everything in the battlefield.

The issue about the Uchiha stone tablet was a confusing one. Shinya was clearly able to read the text and it contained the truth mixed with the lies Madara said. But the real question is, who wrote it? There was no way of knowing the answer as of now so they continued the preparations as per plan.

Inora has been hectic in work because of the absence of Itachi and Shisui. They rarely showed up which put Kayo and herself in so much burden. But Inora knew why they werent there. Everytime she thinks about the war, her heart beat accelerates thinking about how her friends would feel the moment she shows herself on the battlefield.

How would Itachi feel? Will everyone hate her for hiding the truth? How will they react knowing who she actually is? Several questions swirl her mind but she cant find an answer until it actually happens. She knows that she cant bother herself with what others would think but she cant help but feel guilty.

As of now she has only one mission before the war begins and that is to collect as much information as she can. No matter what, she will do what she was supposed to. That was her true purpose. Nobody can stray her from the path she chose to walk.

A 4 man squad containing the elite Uchihas were sent to investigate a possible enemy hideout. The squad contained Shisui Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke Uchiha and Izumi Uchiha. There were reports of sighting Kisame Hoshigaki who was believed to be a member of the Akatsuki. The 4 of them were sent to investigate the possible chances of an Akatsuki hideout in the area.

Inora was bored as fuck in the weekend. Every single friend of hers was busy including Mina. She called Naruto hoping atleast he would be free.

"Hello..! Oh hey Inora! Its been a while." She heard Naruto's voice on the other side of the phone and it seemed like he was panting heavily. "Umm.. hey! You okay? You dont sound so good." Inora replied hesitantly. "Oh! I am fine. Just working out you know." He said making her roll her eyes. "You are working out like at 1.00pm?" She asked.

"I was just bored outta ma mind. Every one of you is busy. Sorry if I disturbed you." Inora said making him sigh. "I am so sorry Inora. I get how you are feeling. But things arent going well. I promise when all this is over we are all going on an amazing trip." Naruto replied and Inora's faint smile in her face fell.

She remembered about the trip they went to the cabin in the middle of the woods. Everybody had a smile on their faces and everybody was happy. Is it possible to have such moments again? Will they be even alive after the war? Inora clenched her fists thinking about everything when Naruto's voice brought her back to reality.

"Ouch! You cant hit me while I am talking on the phone Kakashi sensei." Naruto exclaimed and she heard another voice in the background which she assumed was this Kakashi sensei. "Why on earth are you on the phone while we are training? Any distractions will only lead to your dea.." Inora hung up the call not wanting to hear the end of the sentence of whoever it was that Naruto was talking to.

But that guy was right. Distractions will lead to death. She cant afford to get distracted or feel bad and sorry. This isnt the time for that. The shit is about to get real soon and a small moment of hesitation could change the course of the battle by leaps. She cant afford that kind of behaviour. She promised to not let anything happen to the one person that meant everything to her.
