Lumine POV:

After knocking the useless idiots off of Aether with her History textbook(the book got a bit roughed up, but that didn't matter, since she hated History anyways), she waved a goodbye at Aether and started walking to her next class, which, ironically, was History.

She grumbled under her breath as her teacher assigned yet another project. Bro, we just finished one, like, a few days ago. And that one was major too. And on the same topic...the Archon War.

"The Archon War was a huge war fought..." her teacher droned on.

Lumine sighed and looked out the window, trying to pretend she was some anime protagonist with a complete family to return to. Sure, the Archon War was an interesting topic and all, but they'd been teaching this and the fall of Khaenri'ah ever since she was in 5th grade. Almost 5  years. No matter how interesting the topic, if your heart isn't completely in it, you're going to get bored.

"...ah, Lumine, how bout you come and answer this question on the board?" her History teacher  said(Lumine couldn't remember her name, it was something like Ms. Tsumaranai; quite a mouthful).

"Uh..."she squinted at the board. What happened to all the Archons? Why are they no longer with us? "Didn't they all die, like, 400 years ago?"

Her teacher sighed. "Yes, but how?"

"..." She heard her classmates snickering. Ears burning with rage and embarrassment, she turned back to her window. Stupid Ms. Whatever-Her-Name-Was. Why did she always call on her?! She never called on stupid old Bobbie(who she nicknamed Bob the Builder, since he STILL liked to make mud castles), or idiotic Esra(who still liked to play with Barbies). Nope, always Lumine, Lumine, Lumine.

"Well, MAYBE if you had been paying attention, you would know the answer," Wesley snarked beside her. She glared at him. If I ever dive off a cliff without a rope or parachute, then you'll know who to blame.

"Wesley is exactly right, Lumine. Start paying attention, or you might fail another test."

Lumine felt her shoulders rise as her classmates hooted around her. Did Ms. Frogmouth(Paimon Lessons 101:Give those you dislike an ugly nickname)really have to expose her on that?! She had meant to study the day before that unit test, but felt too depressed and hopeless, leading to a lack of motivation to do anything but sit in her chair.

Luckily, some random kid walked into the room and handed Ms. Frogmouth(maybe Frothmouth would be better)a note.

"Lumine, you're going to the counselors office. Take your stuff-"

Lumine had already slung her backpack on and rushed out the door. She hated the counselors office too, but anything was better than being stuck there with Ms. Frothmouth and her jeering classmates. What have I done to make everyone hate me? What has Aether done...?

"Lumine, Aether, I am going to ask once more, and please answer my question. What happened on the night that the...Fatui attacked?" the counselor said slowly.

Lumine stiffened. Just hearing the word "Fatui" made her blood boil with rage. Those absolute imbeciles who had separated her family forever...she would forever remember the mask of the man who had shot Hinshi and Leo. Bone-white with glowing orange-yellow eyes...how could I ever forget? I remember every detail.

The counselor continued to pester both of them with questions; it was a very awkward experience, but Lumine had gone through this kind of stuff a lot. It still beat sitting around in class, where even the teacher enjoyed picking on her. Everyone at this school hates us, even the teachers. I can kind of understand where the other kids are coming from, but why the teachers, too? My math teacher sneers at me when I ask for help, my English teacher snaps at me when I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to do, and my PE coach yells at me to put on some weight. I bet it's no better for Aether, too. Gosh, I hate this school so much! The teachers are no better than the students! Of course they wouldn't have helped Aether back there; they probably wanted to join in, too!

"You can go now," the counselor said, finally giving up. Lumine and Aether picked up their bags and rushed out.

"I don't know what the point of these are, they already know that we'll never answer," Aether said to her.

"Mhm." When did he get taller than me? I was an inch taller than him last year!

Lumine checked the clock on the wall. Dismissal already? Guess that "counseling" session was useful after all; no need to go to math! As the two siblings exited the school, talking about some new book that Kadenokouji Kenzaburou, a writer from Inazuma, had written, a few pair of eyes followed the pair, narrowing at the girl.

Pallad and his gang of burly bullies weren't happy that they had been beaten by a girl who didn't even reach their shoulders. And to be beaten by a book, no less! No, at first, they had hated the siblings for trying to act all "different"; what made them think they were so special? Everyone had lost something that night! And yet Aether and Lumine still persisted with that attention-seeking attitude, with that fake depression. Well then, time to give them the attention they so desire, Pallad thought smirking.

Later...

Paimon sighed as she scrolled through the schools, one after another. She knew about the problems that Lumine and Aether were facing at school, from all the times they had come home puffy eyed and bruised. She wanted to find a different school for them, but the rest seemed just as bad when she visited them. The best(and only option)was some school called Michita Academy; the reviews were great, and almost all the teachers were famous people...but it was a boarding school located all the way in Inazuma, and they were in Mondstat. If she sent Aether and Lumine there, they would barely see each other at all. Paimon put her tiny hands on her hips. If things get worse, then I'll talk to them about this Michita Academy. It might be a little selfish of me, but I don't want to be separated from them.
