Kadenokouji Kenzaburou?! Isn't that, like, one of-if not the-best selling author of all time? What's she doing teaching-at a high school, no less?  The teacher giggled at the shocked looks on all of her students faces. Even those who had been coming to the school for years bore suprised looks, but the new students looked like their eyeballs were about to pop out of their sockets-he probably looked just as stupid.
"Alright, you guys all already know about Kadenokouji Kenzaburou, it seems, so let me introduce myself. My full name is Yae Miko, but you may call me Ms. Yae, and I write books that sell around the world! My favorite food is Fried Tofu, and no, you cannot bribe me with it," the pink-haired teacher said, smiling. "Now, I will be taking attendance; please say here when you here your name called. And no talking!" To no one's surprise, the class was all hush-hush.
Kadeno-Ms. Yae quickly went down the list of names without butchering a single one-even those that were really hard to pronounce(there was this one kid called Sinead Thiago?).
"Aether Ying?"
"Here," he replied.
"Hmhm, now that that's done with, let's get started on the topic of the day," Ms. Yae said, rising from her seat. She was wearing a pink-and-white shrine maiden dress with a gold headpiece and fake ears. Although the longer Aether stared at them, the realer they looked. Well, I mean, Ganyu DOES have real horns...sooooo...maybe she really does have ears? He was interrupted from his very important and educational train of thought by Ms. Yae clapping her hands together.
"We'll start off with a book list! It's sort of like a hitlist, but instead of containing names of those I want you to kill, it contains titles of the books I would like each of you to read!" Aether nearly choked on air hearing a teacher say that. Back at Saiaku, you would get in trouble for saying-anything! And here's a teacher comparing a book list to a hitlist? But judging from the students who had been attending Michita for years, this was normal for teachers, since they all kept straight faces, even that one girl who refused to shut her hole during role call. Her name was Emilia or something.

Aether looked at the piece of paper in front of him containing the names of books Ms. Yae wanted them to read. He sweat dropped. There were over 100 books on the list, and he had read, like, 7 of them. He looked around, hoping that he wasn't the only one who had a ton of nights spent reading ahead of him.
"Preferably, I would like for you all to be done with the list by, hmmm, the end of the year!" End of the year...WAIT WHAT? That's more than...dammit, I can't do math. But that's a lot of books I need to read! I can't do that! I can barely read for 10 minutes before I start walking around my room for no reason!
"And no cheating by watching the movies! I want you students to read the books, not watch them, hm?" Ms. Yae said. She found out my secret plan; well, it's not really secret, I bet a bunch of people were planning to do that, but still...so many books. I'm gonna lose my winning streak in Genius Invocation TCG! Why am I thinking of video games right now? Alright, I have to stomp down on procrasinating-
"Just kidding! Get the list done by the end of the year!" Ms. Yae said, giggling at the horrified looks some of the students had bore just a few moments before-Aether included. He was making this face: -_- inside his head.
"So, what we're really doing for today is...nothing! Go do whatever you want, it's the first day of school, go socialize, read a book, make new friends, break up with your girlfriend...that kind of stuff!" the teacher fell back down on her seat and pulled out a book right after saying her part. The teachers here are very lax-my ELA teacher back at Saiaku had us writing college essays on the first day of school. But I don't know what to do now; there's half an hour left of class, I can't socialize or make new friends, didn't bring a book to read, and don't have a girlfriend to break up with. Guess I'll just sit here and be my NPC self.
"Hey, you look like a new student. What's your name?" that familiar voice-Emilia-said, as the girl put her hands on his desk. She had a gang of around 5 other girls behind her. They seemed like the cliché "popular rich girls" every school had. I shouldn't judge them before I properly know them yet, though. That'll make me no better than those idiots back at Saiaku.
"Oh, hey, I'm Aether. Yeah, I'm new here," he replied.
"Hm," Emilia twirled a strand of her hair around her index finger, smirking. For whatever reason, her friends were smirking too, like they had some evil plan cooked up for whatever new kid they stumbled upon. "So, I was wondering if you would like to grab dinner with me at Uyuu Restaurant later today?" Emilia asked flirtishly. Is this girl that I met less than 10 minutes ago legit asking me out on a date?
"No, sorry, I have some other things to do," Aether said.
"Like what?" Emilia asked poutingly.
Aether cringed back in his seat. I wish Lumine was here. She'd beat this girl up in 5 seconds flat.
"Like...yeah. Things."
"W-"
"Emilia, cut it out. Even I know when a person isn't interested," a guy said from beside Aether. From what Aether's pea-sized memory chip could remember, his name was Heizou.
Emilia scoffed, then turned away from Aether and sashayed away, but not before shooting him a death glare. Jesus, what's her problem? Sorry, but I don't feel like going on a date with a person I barely even know.
"Sorry bout her," Heizou said. He was reading a book on serial murderers. Totally not concerning. "Emilia's the classic girl who dates everyone. I think she went through, like, 69 different boyfriends last year. Dated each of them for about a week, then broke up and dated another one."
"O-oh, thanks," Aether stuttered. He wanted to talk Heizou a lot more for getting him out of that awkward situation, but couldn't really form the words.
"Oh, you shouldn't really be thanking me. I'm just as bad as her," Heizou said winking. He laughed at the expression on Aether's face. "Hahah, just kidding! I flirt a lot, but I don't go around breaking people's hearts! Say, can I test out a pick-up line on you?"
"What-"
"Okay! Ehm, here I go! Do you believe in love at first sight-or should I walk past again?"(site used: https://athlonsports.com/girls/pick-up-lines-funny. Yes, I cannot think of pick-up lines myself lol), Heizou said, winking again.
"What?"
"I think it's pretty good," Heizou laughed. Aether noticed a greenish gem thingy hanging on his waist. He wanted to ask about it, but decided against it. It was probably just an accessory.
"It's alright, I guess," Aether replied, smiling. He snuck another look at the clock. Somehow, 10 minutes had passed just like that. It had felt like 3 minutes
"Oh, I have a couple of extra books, if you wanna read," Heizou said, reaching into his bag and pulling out about a dozen books. His back was probably at the verge of breaking from carrying all of that.
"Thanks!" Aether looked at the book titles. They were all about serial killers, unsolved detective cases, things along those lines. I'm guess he wants to be a detective when he grows up, he thought, opening up a book about unsolved detective mysteries. I'm just glad that not everyone here hates me-unless everyone here is Emilia's friend.

Sorry for the late update 😅
I accidently deleted everything the first time, so I had to re-type it all
And no, this most likely will not be Heizou x Aether(still debating whether or not to include ships in this fanfic at all)
Anyways
Yeah
Thanks for 180+ reads, and thanks for reading!
Have a great day/night!
