The next morning, I woke up before Dakota. The excitement from
The previous day wore her out and she was sleeping soundly in her room.

I prepared a nice breakfast for her and when I finished, an envelope slid under the door. Stopping, I stated at the door in caution. Before walking to the envelope, I go to Dakota's room and crack her door, she's still there sleeping soundly.

Cautiously, I walk away from her room and to the envelope. Picking it up, I let it linger between my fingers and then slowly open it. My worried feelings are replaced with a smile.

There it was, a key to my heart. It was the picture I had taken of me and Dakota at the fair. It was our kiss- the kiss that helped me realize this was the woman for me.

I hear the shower running and I know Dakota just got up. I sit at the table and wait for her to come out, the envelope is hidden under my chair. When Dakota finally steps into the kitchen, her mouth drops.

"Care to join me?" I smile as she looks at all the food. I gesture to her chair. "Have a seat."

"Alex- did you? Impeccable. No ones ever done anything this nice for me." She takes a fork and the bowl of honeydew. "Thank you."

"Don't thank me, you deserve it." We eat breakfast laughing and taking as the good vibes from yesterday carry over into today. "So, what do you want to do today?"

She raises her fork in the ear and lifts her head, looking out the corner of her eyes like she's thinking. "Hmm......I want.....to explore this place."

"The apartment?" She nods. "Dakota."

"Please, I must say I've been a bit curious and any room you don't want me to go in, I won't." I bite my bottom lip and look towards the door, than back at her. Her eyes are pleading and full of curiosity. I haven't stepped foot in any of those rooms in years.

"Okay." Excitement floods her face.

"Really?! Yay! Where do we start?" She gets up and rushes to the door, I can't help, but laugh.

Stepping into the hall, I take a deep breath and prepare myself for the flooding of memories. I know I didn't have to agree to showing Dakota any of the rooms, but ever since what she said, I wondered if she was right. I can't keep running from my fears, it's unhealthy.

"Which one should we go in first?" As soon as I look at her, I notice her beauty and how breath taking she is. I feel like I'm falling into a trance just looking at her.

"I know just the room." She follows me down the hall to the last door down the hall, to the right.

"Wait a minute, this isn't going to be super weird, right? Like you're not going to open the door and it's going to be a torture chamber, or something, right?" The expression on her face is so serious, I can't help, but laugh.

"Not at all." Unlocking the door, I slowly push it open.

The room is red and white and has a huge window. By the window is a white sofa. There's a terrace with a beautiful view. A red carpet is rolled out from the doorway to one of the rooms in the back. "What room did this use to be? It's stunning." Dakota walks further into the room.

"Kids, I want to give your mom something special." My dad pulls my sister, Christina on to his lap and me and my brother come in close. My dad always had time for his children. He loved us deeply.

"What are you going to give her?" My brother Chase asked. I was the oldest of us three. Chase was the middle child, and of course, Christina was the baby.

I'm not sure why my parents named me Alexander and my brother and sister's names both started with a C. I thought maybe it was because I was the odd child and they didn't like me enough, so to make up for their mistake they had two more children.
