The next few classes went by agonizingly slow. When the bell finally rang, I practically sprinted to the front of the school. I took a seat on the nearest bench and eagerly waited for Phil. I don't know why I was so excited, I could barely hold back a big, goofy grin when I saw the black haired boy walking in my direction.

I immediately got up to meet him. He looked even more perfect than before. He had on black rimmed glasses that made his blue eyes stand out even more.

"Hey, Phil."

"Hey, sorry 'bout my glasses, I didn't have time to take them off after class." He says quietly,

"Don't worry, they look quite nice actually."

"Oh! T-thanks."

"Let's get going then?"

"Yep, after you."

I lead Phil out into the busy school parking lost and headed over to my car. I drove a really shitty, used, worn out 2009 black Honda Civic, that reeked of cigarettes that the previous owner left behind.

"Well, here we are!" I say, patting the trunk and unlocking the doors.
"Please ignore the smell, the previous owner was a smoker. I have like, four air fresheners hanging in here to attempt to get rid of it." I said, chuckling.

Phil shrugs with a small laugh.

"It's fine, my dad smokes so I'm used to the smell." He tells me quietly.

Phil hops in the passenger seat and I go behind the wheel.

"You can just toss your bag in the back." I tell him, throwing mine to the back seat as I do. I put the car in drive and begin to drive short distance to my house.

About ten minutes later, we pull up into my driveway. I had a decent, 2 story house. It wasn't bad, I mean, I sure as hell wasn't going to complain about it.
Phil however, looks as if we had driven up to a castle.

"You have a really nice house, Dan." He says in awe.

I laugh a little at his amazement. "It's nothing special, really, but thank you." I say.

We get out of the car and make our way to the porch. "My mum and dad are at work, so its just gonna be you, me, Chris, and PJ." I tell him, unlocking the door.

My parents are hardly ever home, their jobs keep them at work really late most of the time.

"Okay." Phil replies, following me into the house.

"You can just drop your bag over there," I say, gesturing towards the corridor. "Follow me."

He drops his backpack and follows me into the living room.

"Do you have want to play Mario Kart while we wait?" I suggest, bending down to turn on the Wii and waiting for his reply.

"Alright, but I must warn you, I am the greatest at Mario Kart." Phil warns in a jokingly-serious manner. I laugh, sitting beside him on the couch and handing him a controller.

"We'll see about that." I say, still chuckling.

•••

"I can't believe you beat me again!" Phil shouts in frustration, throwing the controller onto the couch. We've played nearly five games now, and I've come first in every single one.

"Hey, don't hate the player, hate the game."

"I hate you Mario Kart!" Phil shouts jokingly at the T.V. screen.

"Dan, did you really challenge him at Mario Kart? Harsh." I hear PJ laugh as he and Chris enter the room.

"Woah, woah, woah, he challenged me, alright?" I said, laughing.

"Whatever, just get out two more controllers, I still need to beat you." Chris says confidently.

"Alright, but I'm telling you, you won't be able to defeat me crab sticks!" I say, smiling at his foolishness and confidence. I toss him and PJ each a controller and they sit down, joining Phil and me on the couch for another round of Mario Kart.
