Four hours later, six bags of empty crisps and over 30 games of Mario Kart later, and me being victorious in all of them, Phil was just getting more and more fascinating.
The way he fake pouts when he loses, when his tongue pokes out when he laughs. Shit. The butterflies in my stomach were being persistent. My feelings for Phil were inevitable, growing inside me.

Don't be stupid, I think to myself. You've known him for a day, calm down.

"Crap guys, I gotta go, my mom is pissed at me for being late." PJ says, putting his phone in his pocket and getting his jacket.

"Bye PJ." We all say in unison as he walks out the door.

"I should be getting home too." Chris says while getting up.

"See you tomorrow Chris!" I shout as he goes out the door. Now it's just Phil and me with an awkward tension filling the room.

"So, what now?" Phil asks.

"I could drive you home if you'd like." I offered with slight disappointment showing in my voice.

"No! Uh... I mean, n-no, not yet." Phil stutters out almost immediately. I let out a breath in relief.

"Okay, just tell me when you want to go then!" I say with a reassuring smile.

"Okay." He says quietly, looking at the ground. His face drowned with sadness. Did I make him sad?

"Hey," I say softly, standing up. "I wanna show you something."

Without thinking, I grab his hand, having to ignore the electricity coursing through my body, pulling him up the stairs. I continue to drag him down the hallway and into my room.

My room was nothing special. A desk in one corner, a bed with an incredibly emo-looking bed spread in another, and countless posters scattered across the beige colored walls.

"Sorry for the mess." I mumble nervously. He stood there, his eyes wide and a small smile on his face. He looked down at our hands, making my face run red as I quickly let go and begin picking up clothes.

"Is this what you wanted to show me? Your messy room?" He giggled. I stop picking things up and look him in the eye.

"Is it raining?" I ask, still gazing intently on his eyes. He turns towards the window and peeks out.

"No, it's actually quite nice out, there are stars... Everywhere." He breaths out, turning around to find me smiling.

"Perfect." I say, turning around to grab a duvet.

"Follow me." I say as I began walking towards the window. Phil gives me a questioning look, but shrugs and joins me by the window. I pull up the glass pane, letting the cool night air flood into my stuffy bedroom. I close my eyes and take a deep breath before sliding through the window and hoisting myself onto the roof, the only place I feel safe.

I turn back to Phil, motioning for him to come join me. He puts one leg through, then the other, and pulls himself out the window and onto the roof. He finds his balance and begins to look around.

"Wow." he breathes out.

"I know." I say dreamily with a smile. I look up to the endless sky and the scattered constellations and countless stars it has to offer. I walk a few feet away from my window to get away from the artificial light from my room, and lay down the blanket. I sit with my legs extended and my hands behind me, supporting my weight as I stare up at the crescent moon.

"Do you come up here a lot?" Phil asks, sitting cross legged beside me, the heat from his body radiating to mine.

"Of course, why wouldn't I? To me, the stars are the most beautiful thing this world has to offer." I say blushing, realizing that I have never told anyone that before.

"Wow." He says again. I look over to him, watching as the stars reflect in his eyes as he looked up into the night sky.

"Phil, can I ask you something?" I question hesitantly.

He nods,  his eyes still glued to the sky.
"Yeah, anything."

I take a deep breathe, wondering if this is too personal, but deciding to go for it anyways. "Today at lunch, you said that there were a lot of things you needed to forget... I've been wondering what some of those things were all day, what are they?" I ask quietly.

"Well..." He sighs. "My mum died a few months ago, which is why I moved here. My dad had to transfer because the job he has here would make more money, but that still isn't enough for us to function properly,
I- I'm poor. And on top of that my dad is... Never mind." He trails off.

"Oh God, Phil... I'm so sorry, I-I shouldn't have asked" I say quietly. "

"Don't worry about it, Dan. Ironically, what made the whole situation worse, is that I got dumped for what seems like the millionth time." He says sadly.

"I'm sorry, Phil." I say again, not knowing how to reply to such personal information.

He shrugs. "Whatever, I mean, sure? we had been dating for almost five months, but honestly, he was a terrible boyfriend."

The last word caused my heart to flip, rendering me speechless.
