Hermione refused to even look at Ron as they walked through the forest, searching for any sign of the sword. Harry had claimed to them he had seen a patronus that lead him to a lake but before he could see what it was, he went to receive Ron to show him about it and then he accidentally said You-Know-Who's name, which caused them to be chased by Snatchers. Ron attempted a couple of times to get her to shoot a few glances his way but she kept her face looking directly away from him. Finally they reached the lake where he claimed the patronus had took him.
"This is it." Harry claimed as he slowly began to remove his clothes.
"Do you need us to come with you?" Hermione asked him.
"I think I'll be able to manage," Harry assured her. He proceeded to walk across the icy surface of the lake before reaching a certain area of the lake then broke through the surface of the ice and vanished into the bitter waters. Hermione and Ron waited at the edge of the lake, staring outward as they waited for Harry to appear. For a moment there was nothing but silence between Ron and Hermione until...
"So are you really in love with this guy?" Ron asked her. Hermione took a deep breath before shooting Ron a glare.
"I've already told you this, Ron. I am." Hermione shot at him.
"But you don't really know anything about him! I mean the only things you actually know about this guy is that he was a snatcher, he supposedly done with working with You-Know-Who, and his name is Scabior."
"What do you mean supposedly done with You-Know-Who?" Hermione asked Ron.
"Exactly what I mean, Hermione. What if Scabior is playing you? He's just waiting for the right moment to betray you, but until then he'll be using you for his pleasure." Ron told her.
"I trust he is sincere." Hermione shot at him.
"How can you say that? You've only met the guy for a few days. You know nothing about him. How can you have so much faith in him?" Ron asked her.
"I just do!"
"So you have more faith in a random guy than you have in me?"
"What?" Hermione asked, shaking her head in confusion.
"You have more faith in this guy than you have me. I've been with you since our first day at Hogwarts--"
"Correction, you've been with Harry since first day. We didn't become friends until after the troll incident." Hermione corrected him.
"Either way, we've been together for much longer than you have been with this guy and yet you have more faith that he's a changed man than I am right about him might be playing with you. Why are you so determined not to believe me?" Ron asked her.
"It's not that, Ron. I just have to trust Scabior will not betray us... like I have to trust myself in not beating you within an inch of your life." Hermione grumbled. Ron opened his mouth to speak when their ears picked up the sound of water splashing. Hermione and Ron turned their heads to see Harry struggling.
"HARRY!" Hermione screamed as they rushed out on the icy surface and made their way towards Harry. Quickly, they hopped into the hole in the ice and swam towards where Harry was. Ron hurried to grab the Sword of Gryffindor while Hermione pulled the locket from Harry's neck and helped him onto the surface of the ice. The three of them army crawled their way towards the bank of the lake where they collapsed onto the ground, panting in the icy air and shivering like half-drowned kittens. Hermione threw herself onto her back as she stared up into the sky.
"H-hopefully, R-remus and F-fenrir are having a--a b-better time then us." Hermione mumbled.
