POV: Ritu
We reached the trail without talking to each other. Finally, I couldn't take it any longer. "Roger, all the craziness aside, I really did enjoy being with you last night."
"That sounds like the start of a breakup speech," Roger said as if accepting the inevitable.
"No no," I protested. "I don't want to break up. You are worried about what the coyote said in the dream, aren't you?"
Roger stopped walking and turned to me and asked, "Well, aren't you?"
"I don't know. What he said wasn't all bad and besides it was just a dream."
"Was it? It seems we both had the same dream. Maybe we synchronized our dreams by talking in our sleep, but it feels like more than a dream to me."
"It sort of does," I said under my breath. Then I added, "You know, he also said nothing is definite and anything is possible. Perhaps our fate lies not in our stars but in ourselves."
"As long as we can keep seeing each other, I can live with that," Roger said kissing my forehead.
