I walked up to the reception desk, where Jessalyn greeted me with her usual bright smile. "How's it been up here?" I asked, leaning on the counter.
"It's been chill so far, I can't complain," Jess replied, handing me a clipboard with my next patient's info. "You wanna catch lunch after your 1:30 appointment? They're in Room 23."
"Yeah, sounds good." I nodded, turning towards the hallway.
"Oh, it's Dai," I muttered, glancing at the clipboard. Daijah was one of my favorite patients. We'd grown close over time-being around the same age and having a lot of things in common. I knocked softly on the door before hearing her call out, "Come in."
I pushed open the door to find Daijah lounging on the exam bed. "Dai babyyy," I said, closing the door behind me with a gentle click.
"Maya Bear! How you been?" Daijah greeted me, excited to see me.
"I'm good. How's you and the baby?" I asked as I set up the ultrasound equipment.
"We've been living," she said, rubbing her belly with a smile. "Just some heartburn here and there."
