I'd been back home for a couple of days since Turks, and life had slowed down just enough for me to catch my breath.
I was chilling with Dre and Persus, lounging in the studio before I had to head out for the album cover shoot. Persus was at the soundboard, fingers flying over the controls, tweaking something while Dre sat forward, rolling up like always.
"You got any new shit to play, Deuce?" Dre asked, looking up at me.
I leaned back in my chair, spinning around slowly as I scrolled through the files on my laptop until I found the track me and Maya had worked on during the trip. I clicked it without a second thought.
"Yeah, I got somethin'," I replied, pulling up the song. The beat started, thumping lightly in the background, and soon enough, Maya's voice floated in—soft but confident, fitting the melody. Even though I'd heard the track a dozen times, it still hit the same.
Dre's eyebrows shot up, pausing mid-roll, and Persus sat up straighter, glancing over at me.
"Who that?" Dre asked, tilting his head like he couldn't place the voice.
