It was the morning of my first day at a new school and my secret identity, as I like to call it. I got dressed in the clothes I bought with Jess the other day, and I was satisfied with how I looked. However, I was still nervous about going to a new school. Sure I've gone to different schools because of moving from foster family to foster family, but this was different. I had to make sure I didn't tell anyone the real reason I was here in Quantico.

I could tell anyone my real story, and honestly, I was somewhat relieved about that part. But I didn't want to make friends anyway cause I didn't know how long I would even be here, plus I didn't want to put them in danger if Homewood managed to find me and saw me with them. I couldn't do that. I didn't want to put anyone else in my position. Being chased down by some psychopath.

"Del! You ready?! We gotta go!" I heard Hotchner yell for me.

"Yeah!"

I grab my backpack and head to the front door, where he and jack are waiting for me.

"Let's get this over with."

🔫

Hotchner dropped me off and let me know that some dude named Anderson would be here to pick me up to bring me to my first therapy session. As I step into high school, I'm bomb barded by teens everywhere. It was kind of overwhelming. Being around all these students who've probably known each other for years, I don't know anyone here.

I'm sure I looked awkward to anyone looking at me, just standing in front of the doors looking confused. But I tried to brush it off and went to the front office for my schedule. At the front desk was a middle-aged woman who looked annoyed to be there.

"Hi, I'm new here. My name is Delilah Hotchner." I said, not making a mistake.

"Ah yes, Miss. Hotchner. Alright, here is your schedule. On top, here is your locker number and combination." The lady said.

I looked over the schedule and then back at the lady, giving her a fixed smile, "Thank you."

"Oh, Miss. Parker. Would you be a dear and help Miss Hotchner find her locker." The lady asked a random girl who walked by the desk.

"Sure, Mrs. Warren. Can I see your schedule?" The girl asked me, and I handed her my schedule.

"Oh, cool, your locker is near mine. Come on, follow me."

We walked down the hall and then took a left down another corridor. There was my locker, and it looked like it was one locker down from hers.

"Thanks..."

"Flynn. And you are?"

"Delilah. But you can call me Del."

She nodded and opened her locker, "So, where did you move from, Del?"

"Oh, from Texas."

"Cool."

I smiled slightly and turned to open my locker and put some things in it. Then suddenly, someone opens the locker between Flynn and Me.

"Hey, underachiever."

"Hi, disappointment."

They greeted each other, and I assumed by the nicknames for the other that they were friends. Although the nicknames were a little weird, I could tell that they were close.

"Oh Julie, this is the new student Delilah, but you can call her Del. Del, my best friend, Julie." Fylnn introduced us.

I gave her a timid smile, "Hi."

"Hey. I love your outfit." Julie complimented me.

"Oh, uh, thanks."

"I'm guessing you're nervous about starting a new school?" Julies asked me, noticing my weary look.

I laughed, "Is it that obvious?"

Flynn and Julie look at each other before speaking, "Totally."

I signed and gave them a shy smile.

"Anyway, why did you move here of all places from Texas?" Flynn questioned.

"Um..." I trailed off, remembering the cover story I had to say, "I moved here to live with my uncle after my parents died."

They both gave me the pity look that I hate, but Julie also looked as if she knew the pain of losing someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Del."

"Yeah, I know what it's like. I lost my mom two years ago. If you ever need someone to talk to that knows what you're going through. I'm happy to listen." Julie offered me.

I furrowed my brows, "You would do that?"

"Yeah."

"But you just met me?"

She shrugged, "You just moved to a new place where you don't know anyone. When I lost my mom, I had Flynn, as well as my bandmates, to help me when I didn't want to talk with my dad. So I'm happy to be someone you can talk to when you don't want to talk to your uncle."

"Thanks, Julie. I appreciate that."

"Of course. Now, what class do you have first?"

I look at my schedule, "Um, Calculus with Mr. Wayne."

"Cool us too." With that, the bell rang, and we headed to our first class of the day.

I remember what I said about making friends that morning and how I could put them in danger, but in meeting Flynn and Julie, I felt like I had finally met the type of people I was meant to be friends with. They understood me, especially Julie. She had offered to listen to me anytime I wanted to talk about my parents, even though she didn't know the real story she had offered to listen to me.

They were both so nice to me even though they had just met me. So nice they asked me to sit with them at lunch ad meet the boys in Julie's band. They were called Sunset Curve. At lunch is when I would meet the best people I would ever meet in my life. They would come to understand me despite not even not knowing the real me or the real reason I was even in Virginia. But that was okay because they helped bring out the real me that was hiding all these years underneath a fake version of me who that she didn't deserve these types of friends.
