It wasn't just the cops that saved me from that guy. It was the FBI, the BAU, to be exact. Apparently, this guy was killing people all over the city when they finally caught up to him here, and when they asked me where he went, all I could do was point in the direction as I didn't trust my voice. One of the female agents stayed with me, seeing how distraught I was, while another went after the guy and caught up to him.

"Hey, sweetheart, are you okay? He didn't hurt you, did he?"

I just shook my head, still not trusting my voice. The agent looked at me with worried eyes and wrapped me in her jacket.

"He's gone. We lost him." The male agent returned to the room, saying to the female agent. "She alright?"

"She's not hurt. But I don't know if she'll be alright."

Although I could hear the agents loud and clear, for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to talk to them. Usually, I would have said some remark to the male agent, but I was stunned. I was traumatized by what had happened around me and what that man said about coming back for me.

It wasn't until my body moved that I snapped back into reality to see that I was being guided to a car by the female agent. Still, I didn't say anything and just went into the back seat of the black SUV. Once the door closed, I leaned against the door, and all the tears fell from my face. I couldn't keep it in anymore.

Both of the agents then entered the car after a few minutes. I knew they could hear my sons as I wasn't exactly being quiet about my crying, but they didn't acknowledge it, which I had appreciated.

We started driving and soon made it to the police precinct, which I was familiar with. Once we entered the building, I felt all the eyes of the officers on me. They all pretty much knew me and my reputation.

The female agent led me into a room with couches and sat down with me. We sat there in silence for a few minutes. I didn't know why the agent wasn't asking me questions about what happened but thinking back to it; I see she was giving me more time to process what happened to me.
