"She wants me gone, I'm already trying,

Telling the truth, losing my mind."

-----

Hawks slowly blinked, blinding white immediately enveloped his vision as he shut his eyes and wrapped his wings loosely around himself to hide from the unwelcome light.

He heard voices stop abruptly.

"Is he awake?"

"I think so"

He felt a soft nudge on his arm.

"Hey, wake up."

Hawks moved to sit upright, slowly blinking as his vision became clearer.

A doctor and a nurse stood infront of him, the nurse looking worried about something.

"Where.. am I?"

"In the hospital, Mr. Hawks." The doctor scribbled something down, nodding at the nurse as she scurried over to the hero.

The doctor left with a short "I will be back shortly"

"What happened?"

The nurse jumped slightly.

"Ah- you were found in an alleyway.. um.. this morning, by the pro hero that was supposed to continue your patrol"

Hawks thought she had worded it oddly, but just nodded.

The nurse nervously glanced at his wings, looking back at him quickly to make sure he hadn't seen her.

Hawks raised an eyebrow at her.

"What are you looking at?"

She let out a sound that Hakws thought sounded like a squeaking mouse and she moved away and cleared her throat.

"I ummm... its ah- just.."

She squeezed her eyes shut and stood upright, as if she was giving herself a pep talk.

"Your wings were found in a state of disrepair, and some of the feathers were completely burnt but the doctors healed them to where they'll be back to normal in less than a month!"

Hawks quickly looked back at his wings, which were loosely wrapped in bandages in some places.

He sighed, but stopped abruptly.

"Hey- can I be alone for a second?"

The nurse looked like she was going to burst into tears.

"Of course! BY-" Her voice was cut off as she bowed nearly 90 degrees and ran out of the room. Hawks heard crashing as she slammed the door and a quiet "ow" from the other side.

He exhaled deeply, his head aching.

"Touya..." he thought aloud, clenching his hand into a fist.

That villian- Dabi can't be Touya, right? Maybe it's a false memory, or a really cruel coincidence.

Hawks wiped the tears welling in the corner of his eye as he thought of every excuse he could to explain what happened last night.

He couldn't bring himself to care all too much about the weight of his wings or how much his head rang- not when the only thing he thought about was Touya and how Dabi were too similar for comfort.

The thought made him sick. Touya, the boy he loved so much, who promised to become a hero with him...

Being Dabi?

He laid back down as he felt himself get lightheaded and quickly shook the thoughts away best he could.

Touya isn't Dabi. Theres no way.

And he shouldn't be thinking about this while he still needs to worry about his injuries healing...
