"And our clothes are all too often ripped
And our teeth are all too often gnashed
And it lasts as long as it possibly can."

After just "a bit" of threatening to beat up Dabi, he finally complied and got Hawks a one way ticket to having his work concerned about how bad that cough sounded and a fun day pass to nothing. Woo.
At the very least, Hawks had the company of Touya. Who, to his surprise, didn't make the slightest attempt to leave. Instead, he loafed around like a free loader. In Hawks' own bed, too. The nerve'a that guy.
/
"Why don't you leave?"
"You want me to?"
"No, I mean..."
"Is that how I am to you, some kind of deadbeat dad type that leaves at the earliest time slot?"
"..."
"Oh come on!"
"It's not my fault."
"...Tch, whatever."
Hawks lifted up the coffee mug he was drinking, which was still warm but now only half full.
"Want the rest?"
Dabi grabbed the mug almost instantly, chugging it down in one fell swoop. Hawks was stunned for a bit, wondering what the hell kind of Garfield shenanigans he just witnessed.
/
"You realize you can move, yeah?"
"I'm glued here... You're gonna hafta peel me off..."
"Are you kidding me?"
"It's super glue."
"More like super dumbass."
"When did you get so rude, huh?"
"When did your brain lose mass?"
"Oh so your choosing scientific insults now?"
"...That wasn't scientific."
"Toma-toe, to-may-to."
Hawks pricked his side with a feather.
"OW!"
/
"Stop sulking."
"No."
"Your waist was already lumpy, what's one more crater."
"I do NOT have a lumpy waist"
"..."
"Don't act like I didn't say anything, prick!"
"...And stop whistling innocently!"

As night slowly rolled in, Dabi held a record of moving... Absolutely nowhere. He really did seem glued in place, it was almost freaky actually. Hawks dropped by every other minute but mostly watched TV in the other room. Until about 7pm, when he was more than fed up with reality dramas and reruns. He sat next to Dabi again, holding a hand on his stomach like it was a table.
This time, the silence wasn't so uncomfortable. It was hard to pinpoint what exactly changed, but it was a tiny lift in the weight of the air.
Having said that, the air still had a suffocating atmosphere about it that never seemed to lift. Unspoken words, maybe. The weight of parting.
Hawks'd be damned if he knew.
