"Every time that you leave,
all the diamonds fall out my eyes"
-----
That morning was a bit awkward, Hawks had to admit. But, it was a nice change of pace, maybe. Whatever happened, Hawks and Dabi had made an unspoken agreement- never to talk anymore than they had before.
Hawks didn't feel like it was a good pace, though. Maybe he was subconsciously wishing for more, again. He couldn't exactly find the words; his mind was all over the place since he woke up, and he had to leave to work; admittedly later than he should have. The reason? He woke up before Dabi and decided to just sit there, leaning close for a semblance of warmth from the other. And when Dabi had finally woken up, there was an awkward pause before they both went their separate ways.
Hawks felt deflated, utterly drained. He was pretty sure it showed, because the usual paparazzi he dealt with was unusually quiet when they caught a glimpse of him. He could barely lift his facial muscles into a smile, anyways. So he was a smidge glad he was left alone that day.
However awkward it had been that morning though, they both ended up sleeping outside that night again (although this time, with a thin, poor excuse of a blanket provided lovingly by Dabi.)
And the next night, and the night after that. Until it just became routine- to walk to the tree at night and sleep together under the tree in the cold night- which gave both of them colds that persisted tirelessly. Honestly, Dabi was more annoyed at how everytime he'd cough or sneeze he'd get a dirty look from almost everyone in the LOV. As if he was patient zero, or something. (Although he'd been a bit more careful because he was almost certain if he gave someone a cold he'd be put on the figurative chopping block.)
Although it was an unspoken ritual by now- it was still just that; unspoken. Even Dabi had to admit it was barely even a step in their relationship considering they barely spared a few glances st eachother. Which annoyed Hawks to high hell, if this was supposed to be such a nice advancement in Touyas attitude towards him, why wasn't he talking? And why couldn't Hawks say anything, either? Just thinking about it could give him a headache. Why was Touya so complicated? He didn't think he'd get an answer any time soon, if at all, though. So, he just let the days pass by quietly, laying under that tree, huddling close as Dabi ever so slightly warmed his body temperature (which he thought Hawks hadn't taken notice of.)

"...Hey."
It was a step foward- Hawks felt so unnecessarily happy at his step foward in talking with Touya, he could almost puff his chest out in pride. He didn't though, because he'd look awful stupid, and also because he was still angry about so many things; which he thought was one too many things, really. Dabi didn't really spare more than a few glances as he quietly sat down, though.
"..."
"Hi."
