Hawks didn't really know what to say. He felt his mouth go dry, like he just ate salt.
Dabi didn't do much of anything either. He didnt move, didn't really frown or smile, he just calmly stared at the vibrant blue flames in his hand.
What was he supposed to say about that?
Hawks decided to just calmly lean closer, and lay his head on Dabi's shoulder. Watching the flames flicker in the darkness.
When he felt his eyelids grow heavy, he paused and softly murmured it as if it were a fact, like a question with an obvious answer;
"If I fall asleep... You'll be gone when I wake up again."
Dabi sat still for a long time, before deciding that maybe he was too tired to run today. He gently put out the fire in his hand, leaving behind the smell of smoke.
And he wrapped an arm around Hawks' shoulders, resting his head ontop of the others.
Like when they were kids.
