"There's no way we're watching 'I am Legend' again,Shane. Unless we watch the Vincent Price one." The red head laughed sitting on the couch in her boyfriend's apartment, a bowl of popcorn in her lap and her body in Shane's.

"That movie's ancient, Abbs. I can't sit through another season of 'The Vampire Diaries', so what do you propose we watch?"

"Fine." She groaned,"We can watch your dumb monster movie."

Abigail fell asleep halfway through. Shane lifted up his lover and carried her to his bed. He loved when she slept over. Not just the sexual aspect of it but the intimacy of her trusting him to protect her in this vulnerable state. He loved the way she smelled and how her breathing lulled him into his sleep. She was everything to him.

I woke up sobbing. I had a dream,it would be considered a good dream if it wasn't so absolutely devastating when I had to wake to my reality. In the dream everything was normal. Shane and I were normal, there were no creatures running around trying to eat us and we were happy. I looked down, Shane was sleeping at my side.No. The hallow shell that was Shane slept at my side. The Shane that was beside me was in love with Lori. The Shane beside me wasn't the same man who would smile beside me in pictures or tease me about my hair in the morning.

No. The man beside me didn't love me. He would sacrifice me in a heartbeat if it meant he would live. If it meant Lori would live. I just wished he'd wake up and comfort me like old times.

Abigail yelped as she sat up, shaking from the nightmare she just had. Shane stirred and mumbled her name along with what could barely be made out as 'are you okay?' He slowly sat up and wrapped an arm around her,"It was a dream, Abbs. Just a dream."

I knew he wouldn't because he wasn't the same man, and now he would only think of my need of comfort weak.He might even shoot me just for the hell of it.

I craved for the twinkle to return to his eyes and a smile to dance across his features when he woke up. I needed him to kiss my cheek and squeeze my hip when he woke up and got out of bed like he would back then.

Shane smiled at the beauty in front of him, the ring in the dresser drawer beside him seemed to be too be screaming at him. She too good for him. She was younger and smarter and absolutely stunning. He wasn't aware of the letter of employment that was nestled deep in her bag , or how it would affect the relationship and bring it to a halt. Shane leaned over and kissed Abigail's cheek and squeezed her hip as he whispered,"Good morning,Abbs."

I got up and left the tent,it was too much. The man I loved was gone and I was hanging onto a broken hope that he would miraculously return. My chest tightened and I felt sick. I felt like I was shattered into a million pieces. It felt like the old Shane was keeping a couple of the shards hostage, where ever he was. I crumpled to my knees as I let more sobs tumble past my lips.

Abigail sat at the table across from Shane, who was shoveling eggs into his mouth,"Shane I have to tell you something.I got a job."

"A job? You already have one?"

"Yeah, but this one...it- it pays better and I would be more passionate and its just really kind of special."

He smiled over at his girlfriend financial stability they would be able to live nicely it was perfect timing,"Yeah? You're gonna take it ,right?"

"Yes. I am, but there's sort of a small issue....its umm its in Atlanta."

Shane's world shattered. Atlanta. Abigail would be moving away from him. He couldn't move.He had a good job here, he was working with his best friend in a town that wasn't all that trouble. He couldn't just move."Abigail- what...what about you and me?"

"You could...." She knew it was foolish. Shane shouldn't have to uproot just for her,"its just a few hours on the road."

 "Don't take it."

 "Shane-"

"Please.Abigail,please."

"M-miss Lee?" I heard a small voice come up behind me. Carl stood a worried look on his features."Are you okay? Did Shane hurt you? If he did-"

"No. No Carl.He didn't." That was a lie. Sure there were no bruises visible but my emotions were black and blue. No physical harm just a sinking in my heart.I needed my Shane.Please. Shane, please.
