Meanwhile, it's afternoon at Blue Water Beach. Fly and Bec are taking a walk around town.
Bec: You sure you don't wanna come to Germany with us? I'm sure Joe and Anna don't mind putting an extra plate on the table.
Fly: Nah. I appreciate the offer, Bec. I really do. But Christmas is supposed to be spent with family. Don't worry about me. Plus, I've been to Germany. I've been to most of the world, in fact.
Bec: Okay. But if you change your mind, hit me up. I'm sure my german nephew and niece would love to talk to a former 2x surfing world champion.
Fly: Thanks. Joe is really set on staying there, isn't he?
Bec: It's his home now. He's been there with Anna for over a decade. He's even got german citizenship.
Fly Wow. Impressive.
Bec: Yeah. And what about you? Are you staying here, or what?
Fly: Of course. I could never leave Australia.
Bec: Well, I'm not saying you need to move to another country, but you might wanna consider getting out of Perth.
Fly: I don't know, Bec. It's my hometown.
Bec: But every single time you stay there, things get chaotic. Just stay here. You'll forget about your failed marriage in no time. It'll be like old times again.
Fly: Doubt it. Things will never be the same, Bec. Besides, I don't even know what I'm gonna do now. I don't feel like going back to the pro circuit.
Bec: Oh, I'm not telling you to go back. Your career was amazing, in hindsight. So if you wanna end it, that's up to you. But just stay here, while you try to figure it out. You could stay at my place, until you find something.
Fly: That's sweet. But I still have a lot of money from winning world championships.
Bec: That money is not gonna last forever. Eventually, you'll have to start doing something.
Fly: I know. And I will. I just need some time away from Perth, to figure it out.
Bec: ... Your hair is wet. I see you've hit the waves.
Fly: Yep. How could I not?
Bec: Wanna go for a surf off?
Fly: You're challenging a former world champion?
Bec: I'm not that out of shape.
Fly: ... Nah.
Bec: Oh, what's the matter? You scared?
Fly: Oh, you're on!
