Ryujin's POV

My eyes fluttered open to meet the darkness of my and Yeji's room. My hand lazily searched for my night light, groaning softly when I couldn't find it. I lifted my head and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, starting to adjust to the darkness.

I turned the small lamp on and turned my head to the other side, expecting to see Yeji asleep but she wasn't even there. "Yeji?" I raised my voice a little, sitting up on our bed. I felt around her side, relieved that it was still warm. She got up not so long ago.

"Yeji?" I raised my voice more, getting up from the bed. Nothing but silence hit my ears and I started to get worried. The door to the bathroom was open and the light was off so she wasn't in there. She must be downstairs then.

I made my way downstairs, immediately noticing that something was off. Everything looked like always except for the back door, it was...open?

I felt my stomach turn slightly, my heart starting to beat faster than it did when I saw that Yeji wasn't in our bed. Worry started to fill my head and I put my shoes on, walking out of the back door. Our yard was neat, just like we left it yesterday night. I glanced on my phone that I brought with me and looked at the time. 2:32 AM.

"Yeji?" I whisper-yelled, crossing my arms as I shivered. The chilly night air hit my bare legs and the sweater that I had on didn't help at all. I snapped back to reality when I heard sounds coming from the pond behind the neighborhood, near the woods.

Who would be going out there at this time? Was Yeji there?

I started walking to the pond, my phone clutched in my hand. The sounds got louder and I felt chills running up my spine, this time from fear. I heard some rustling behind me and turned around, looking everywhere intently to make sure no one was there. I continued walking towards the sound, listening carefully.

"We could beat the shit out of you, you know?" A man chuckled, his voice low and heavy. I accidentally stepped on a branch and his head snapped my way. We made eye contact and I quickly turned around. There was a big man standing right in front of me. "Look, that's her girlfriend." He grabbed me by my arm and led me to 2 other men.

My heart was racing and I felt like I was about to pass out. "Yeji?" I tried escaping the man's grip to run to her but he held me tightly, not letting me go. Yeji was laying on the grass, her nose bleeding. She looked exhausted and scared. What was going on?

"Don't drag her into this." She mumbled, looking at the black haired guy with a furious face. He scoffed and took a step closer. "Quiet." He smirked and kicked her in her face. I gasped and tried to get out of the man's grip. Tears started swimming in my eyes as I saw her spitting blood on the grass.

She looked miserable.

"Do you have any idea what your girlfriend did?" He looked at me, winking playfully. "Absolutely nothing." He laughed and kicked Yeji in the face again, making her cry out. "I just enjoy seeing pretty girls like her scared and covered in blood."

"Don't touch her!" I yelled, tears starting to stain my cheeks as I saw him stepping back to Yeji. "And why wouldn't I?" He shrugged, crossing his arms. The other guy lifted Yeji and held her up while her body was limp in his arms. "Poor girl." He pouted and started laughing when the black haired guy kicked her in her stomach.

She yelped out, falling with a thud onto the grass. Soft sounds left her lips and she tried standing up, getting on all fours first. The blonde guy knocked her over with his foot, grinning when she fell over onto her side. "Watch." The black haired smirked and started kicking Yeji in the guts continuously.

Cries left her lips and I whimpered, still trying my hardest to leave the man's grip. The blonde man joined in soon after, kicking her in the back. There was a muffled snapping sound and Yeji gasped loudly, trying to take a breath.

"Stop it!" I cried out, harshly jerking in the big man's grip but he only held me tighter, putting a knife up to my throat. "Quit moving." He mumbled against my ear, giving it a light bite before turning my head to what as happening in front up of us.

I sobbed loudly, watching the guy's kick the helpless girl. Yeji opened her eyes and made eye contact with me, tears filling her eyes. She kept staring deep into my soul while the sounds that once left her lips started dying out. I panicked, starting to hyperventilate.

"Yeji! Let me fucking go!" I squirmed, whimpering when I felt the cold blade press against my skin again.

"She's dead, let's go." The blonde looked at the other guy, but he kept going. He kept on kicking Yeji in her stomach, making more of her ribs snap.

The man that was standing behind me kicked me in my thigh, making my leg give out so I couldn't walk and put the black haired in a chokehold, dragging him away from the bloody mess. I held my breath, trying to get up.

I stopped in my tracks when I heard a soft huffs and puffs falling from Yeji's lips. "Yeji, oh my god." I cried out, crawling to her. Yeji lifted her trembling hand a little, taking short breaths. "I can't breathe..." She choked out, trying to take deep breaths.

I cupped her cheek, sitting up next to her. "Yeji, I'm calling the ambulance, stay with me." I whimpered out, trying to choke down the cries while dialing the emergency number. A small whimper fell from her lips and I looked at her with a panicked face, knowing deep down she couldn't be saved.

"What's your emergency?" The woman on the other end repeated and I typed something on her loud keyboard. "I-I..."

Blood spilled out of Yeji's mouth and I started crying loudly, feeling her hand turn cold. "I love you, Yeji, please don't leave me. Please...Please, Yeji. Fuck, stay with me!" I yelled out, holding her hand tightly. Yeji moaned quietly and went numb, her hand loosening around mine. "Please don't do this to me..."

My eyes shot open to meet the darkness of my and Yeji's room.

"Ryujin!" A familiar voice exhaled shakily next to me, pulling me into a tight embrace. I inhaled, immediately snapping back to reality when I smelled the scent of the person.

"You were screaming and crying...begging me to stay alive." She whispered against my ear, wiping the tears on my cheek. I didn't even notice I was crying.

"I-It was a dream? Thank god, fuck..." I whimpered, fresh tears filling my eyes again. Yeji held me tightly, trying to keep me calm.

Her embrace felt so safe. Her arms were wrapped so securely around me that if I ever were to hang above a cliff, I wouldn't be worried that I'd fall. "We're both okay, Ryujin. We're in our room, safe and sound. Nothing to be worried about." She whispered comfortingly, rubbing my back soothingly. "Do you want to go back to sleep? It's 2:32 AM so we still have time to sleep."

I shook my head frantically, pressing my face against her chest. "Okay, sorry. Do you want to cuddle then? I'll put a movie on." She whispered, grabbing the remote. Yeji lied back and lifted her arm a little so she could wrap it around me when I lied down. And so she did.

I rested my head on her breasts, listening to her heart beat while she rubbed my side with her hand, picking out a movie. "I want to get married to you soon. We'll have the prettiest daughter and I'll make sure that she'll turn out just like you. Beautiful and smart."

Yeji always did that. She found comfort in our future, knowing it would be just as loving as it is now.

"Yeji?" I whispered drowsily.

"Yes, my love?" She whispered back, gently caressing my forearm with her thumb. I shivered slightly and closed my eyes. "I don't want to live without you."

"Are you having thoughts?" She whispered, her thumb traveling along the scars that I made. "No...as long as you're with me, I'm okay."

I curled up against her and started drifting off to sleep, hoping to wake up next to her again.
