Ryujin's POV

I felt Yeji squeeze my hand even tighter as we walked past a group of girls that started whispering and giggling as soon as they saw us. Yeji's temper was like a ticking bomb these days, one wrong word from the wrong person and she would blow up.

She's had 2 accidents the past few months which were beating up a man for hitting on me while she was clinging to me oh so obviously and threatening to stab a woman for also hitting on me. The Police got engaged both times and they kept in mind that she had medical complications but they said that if it happened again, she would be held accountable for her actions.

It scared her so she tried her hardest not to do anything bad. She didn't even step on the grass when we were walking in the park, because "you're supposed to walk on the sidewalk, not the grass."

But it seemed to overwhelm her.

She lost her temper quicker, got upset over the smallest things and started getting violent.

Someone informed the Police about Yeji's escalating behavior, calling her a psychopath that could burst any moment. Since a week or so, police has been there every time I went out with Yeji. They were practically stalking us, which didn't help with Yeji's condition.

She thought she was paranoid, thinking that she was being followed - which she was - and refused to go anywhere alone. She would go insane.

So with the police following us around and calling Yeji "a possible threat to the citizens", she was the first person to blame for anything bad that happened in the blink of an eye.

It hurt me physically and emotionally to see her getting set up by stupid Jaehyun and his clique that only pushed Yeji's buttons. They were constantly setting Yeji up, thinking it would be a great idea to make her go to the mental hospital or jail.

That's why I had to keep her on a leash, not literally. I had to make sure she wouldn't do anything that looked suspicious or say anything disturbing out loud, which occurred occasionally.

It was hard, thanks to her ADHD.

But I managed. I couldn't watch her get taken away by the police. Yeji was even pulled out of class one time and she had a talk with the police and the school counselor, practically threatening her that she would end up in jail if she did one wrong thing.

She developed separation anxiety ever since and mind that it was up to three months ago.

"Baby, it's okay," I whispered against her ear and caressed her knuckles gently. Her grip loosened slightly but she stayed close, looking down at the ground.

But then I recognized someone I wish wasn't even in my life.

Jaehyun and his friends, along with some of the school's cheerleaders. They were doing something that looked...weird, to be honest. Jaehyun was laying on the ground, laughing loudly while the others circled him.

My intention was just to walk by but the exchange student from somewhere in America that was in my science class approached us. "Hi, Ryujin. How are you?"

I looked at her weirdly and stopped walking, glancing at Yeji who was also very confused.

For the context, none of them ever talk to us, unless they want to bully Yeji.

"Uh, good...?" I raised a brow, getting an awful feeling in my gut. The slightly lopsided smile on Aubrey's face said enough.

"And what's up with that retard?" She grinned and snorted a little, satisfied with the reaction she got out of Yeji.
