Yeji's POV

I was at home, reading a novel on my armchair with a cup of tea in my hand, trying not to worry too much.

Ryujin has been gone since 5:00 PM but it's nearing 9:00 PM. She said she was going out to ride her back with her club, giving a small kiss and driving off to I don't know where. It stressed me out knowing that I have no idea where she is. What if one of them crashed?

Her club was more like a gang that everybody wanted to join. Ryujin started The Highway Ghosts about 2 years ago but there were only a few people on the head list. Ryujin, Lia, Yuna, Heejin, Hyunjin and Bangchan were the ones you had to go to if you wanted to join.

They often went on rides, regardless the weather or time. They always made time for each other and helped each other out. They were like a family. But Ryujin and Bangchan were something else. They were childhood friends, they grew up together. If one was in trouble, the other made sure to also get in trouble so they'd be punished together.

I looked up when I saw my phone screen lit up but sighed softly when I saw it was just a notification from twitter. My anxiety rose and rose with every minute and I just hopefully stared at my phone. They were never gone for that long unless they were going to the bar after their ride. But Ryujin would tell me, or at least send a short message.

My eyes locked back on the book and I continued reading, hoping to hear keys open up the door and heavy boots pounding against the floor with Ryujin's voice saying "I'm home".

I waited and kept on waiting, picking my nails when I saw that it almost hit 9:40 PM.

I heard a soft whine coming from next to me and saw Insam sitting next to the armchair, looking up at me with worry in his eyes. Dallie sat next to the dog, swaying his tail calmly. "What is it, babies? Mama will be home soon, okay?" I gently petted both of them, receiving purrs from the cat.

My head snapped back when I heard my phone ringing. I felt my heart lift when I saw Ryujin's name appear on the screen. I picked up and held the phone up to my ear.

"Yeji? Can you come to the lake house?" The voice sobbed out loudly, taking heavy breaths every second. I sat up straight, immediately feeling alerted by the background sounds. "What happened?" I frowned, getting up to put my shoes on.

"Get here as soon as possible."

The call ended and I ran to get my jacket, purse and car keys. Insam followed me the whole time, barking when he noticed that something was wrong. Dallie however, didn't give a shit, licking between his legs calmly. "I'll be back, Insam." I petted him and rushed out the door, locking the house before I hopped in my car and drove away, speeding to the highway.

The lake house was along the highway, the first right and then downhill. There was a huge lake with a house next to it. It was their clubhouse.

I raced between the cars, wasting absolutely no time to get to the destination.

The ride seemed so long but it was only 12 minutes, we didn't live that far away from the lake house. I drove down the hill and around the lake to get to the other side. I saw lights flickering and a crowd standing together.

I parked my car and got out, my ears immediately meeting loud voices. "What happened?" I walked up to a crying Lia and she nodded towards the mess on the road. Someone was laying on the ground and a few people were just looking, someone on the call with the ambulance.

I rushed to the few people and gasped loudly when I saw who was laying on the floor.

Bangchan was laying on the floor with his stomach covered in blood, holding onto Ryujin's hand tightly while breathing heavily. Ryujin was sobbing right next to him, holding him close to her, afraid that if she'd let go, he would die.
