. . .
Keiko awoke with a fuzzy feeling in her chest. The air around her was.. soft. She hadn't been able to close her eyes and have a good rest for a while. When she opened her eyes, she noticed the room around her. Sitting up, she realized she was back in Suna, and Tsukiko was sitting on the edge of her bed. She was suddenly hit by a sense of dread, and her stomach fell.
"If you're here, then that means-"
Tsukiko shook her head. "No. The extraction hasn't been completed yet. You need to be conscious in order for me to perform the jutsu."
Her shoulders fell in relief. "If that's true, then how am I still alive? And awake, for the matter."
"Madara was able to put some kind of anesthetic on you. It's temporary, and it only gives you a few more days. However, you can no longer use your jutsu for the time being."
"Great." Keiko rubbed her eyes. "I'm free to attack."
"Not exactly." Tsukiko stood up, brushing off her dress and walking near Keiko's wall of puppets. "Someone from the organization will be assigned to protect you. Their abilities are not to be taken lightly."
She stood up, and walked beside her.
"You have the rest of the evening to pack. After that, a member will come to collect you. Be aware of what you'll be bringing. You're not returning here after you've left."
And with that, Tsukiko disappeared into a pile of flower petals.
Keiko turned to the bag next to her bed. She assumed it was the things she had left back at the hotel. She walked over to it and spilled the stuff on the bed, looking at all the things she had bought. She ignored the manga she had bought and picked up a small bag containing a necklace, then walked back over to her puppet wall and picked a scroll from the bottom.
She sat at her desk, placing the things down and pulling out a paper and pencil. She had a lot to do in little time.
. . .
Zipppp.
Keiko had finally finished packing. She had packed quite a lot of stuff, though most of her bags were just her poison tools and puppet scrolls. She only brought 1/3 of the things she owned, and left the rest to collect dust. The moon had already rose high, and she watched it shine into her room for the last time. She had written her goodbyes, and left gifts for the sand siblings. She was ready to enter a new chapter of her life, to start over again. She was ready to calm this beast who craved blood, and she was ready to run away. Just as she got out of bed, her door opened, and a man in a black cloak stepped in. Keiko had assumed this was the member, for he wore the same attire as Madara. He had orange hair that stuck up in a way Naruto's did, and metal piercings all over his face. He wore a headband with three lines and a cross through it, which Keiko remembered was the rain village symbol. His eyes were covered in the shadow of the moon, but he had no expression whatsoever written on his face.
"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pain, I am the leader of the Akatsuki."
Keiko stood from the foot of her bed and bowed to him. "My name is Keiko. Rota-"
"Uchiha." he stepped forward, and Keiko could finally see his eyes. "Your name is Keiko Uchiha."
Now she understood why he was leader. His eyes were a light shade of purple, and swirled in a way that went on forever. He was one lucky enough to be born with the Rinnegan.
