It started out with playful comments here and there. Rhaenyra was always known to make those comments toward Alicent, followed by a smile. Alicent could never tell whether Rhaenyra was joking or if she was serious. But every time the princess would turn to her and say, "run away with me," a small part of Alicent did want to.

"If you answer with 'Lord Something,' Septa Marlow will be furious," Alicent spoke, looking at Rhaenyra whose head lay on her lap. The two were under what Rhaenyra would call 'our tree,' because they'd always spend their days just laying there and relaxing.

"She's funny when she's furious," the princess answered nonchalantly. Alicent's eyes focused on Rhaenyra for a quick second, then hastily she looked away.

"You're always like this when you're worried."

"Like what?"

The princess looked up to her friend for an answer. "Disagreeable," Alicent replied, raising her eyebrows with an all-knowing look. Rhaenyra wanted to make a remark, but this one time it seemed as if Alicent was right. "You're worried your father is about to overshadow you with a son."

"I only worry for my mother," she countered, Rhaenyra's eyes back to her hands as she started to fidget. "I hope for my father that he gets a son... As long as I can recall, it's all he's ever wanted."

"You want him to have a son?"

"I want to fly with you on dragon back, see the great wonders across the Narrow Sea, and eat only cake."

"I'm being serious," Alicent could feel Rhaenyra's eyes on her, running her hand through the pages of the book.

"I never jest about cake."

A small smile appeared on Rhaenyra's face as her friend turned to face her, her mouth hung open as she noticed the princess playing around once more. "You aren't worried about your position?" questioned Alicent, yet again Rhaenyra was quick to react.

"I like this position, it's quite comfortable." In one swift movement, Alicent shut her book closed and stood up out of annoyance. The princess would often do this to her, and during these moments Alicent can't help but leave when she could. Rhaenyra watched as the dark-haired girl began to walk away, rolling her eyes as she laid back down on the blanket.

"Where are you going?" she lazily asked Alicent, taking a quick glance to see where the girl covered in light blue was heading.

"Home," replied Alicent with a huff. "The hour has grown late-"

"Princess Nymeria led her Rhoynar across the Narrow Sea on 10,000 ships to flee their Valyrian pursuers," the princess cuts Alicent off, lazily getting up from her comfortable position on the blanket. The dark-haired companion watched as Rhaenyra sauntered to her front, immediately opening the book from where they have left off, to make sure she was getting it right. "She took Lord Mors Martell of Dorne to husband and burned her own fleet off Sunspear to show her people that they were finished running."

Impressed by the silver-haired girl, Alicent could only give a smirk. That was before Rhaenyra reached in front of her and tore a page off the book. "What are you doing?!" She asked, baffled.

"So you remember," Rhaenyra replied cheekily, slowly walking down the path.

"If- if the Septa sees this book then-"

"Fuck the Septa."

"Rhaenyra!" Alicent couldn't help but laugh, she'd dare not to say it but she was fond of the free-spirited energy her friend often gave. That sense of relief knowing that all those little mischievous deeds would still make them laugh at the end of the day. She watched as Rhaenyra laughed along, linking her arm around hers, as always. It was times like these that Alicent wished to freeze and stay in forever.

Little did she know, Rhaenyra wished the same.
