Chapter 16: take a break

Both of them went down the stairs to the living room where Amy and Rouge were sitting on the sofa. Rouge jumped up when she saw them and huged them tight. "You boys scared me to death." he laughed relieved.
"Pff. Chill rouge we are perfectly fine. Wait a minute! WHAT ABOUT MY EMERALD?!!" Knuckles shouted frightened, grinning his teeth hissing.
The cat groaned annoyed as Rouge pulled on one of his ears. "Ow ow that hurts Rouge." he Echidna whimpered.
"Will you listen to me now, hot headed kitten?" she questioned while grinning.
"Fuck yeah! But let go of my ear you baddie!" The guardian shouted.
"Good." she smiled and let go. "Espio is watching it for me. I asked him to."
"Phew." Knuckles sighed.
"Even if he wasn't, I'm sure that Eggman won't try to take it again. At least for a while. I bet he has a very bad memory of you punching him brutally in the stomach." The Jackal who was sitting on a chair was laughing.
Knuckles was more then confused. "Huh? What do you mean by that Infinite?"
"Oh right, you don't remember." the wild dog scratched his neck laughing now nervously. "Also call me Zero please. I am not calling myself Infinite anymore, thanks to you comanda." He smiled softly.
"Please. Just knux or knuckles." The cat echidna offered grinning, walking towards him, holding his hand up for a handshake.
Shadow was watching every single move the jackal did. He still was not trusting him after what he had done to his beloved red boy.
To his suprise Zero took his hand smiling.
"Naaah, I think comanda suits you better." he smirked.
The keeper shook his head. "No, don't call me that. I was a bad Comanda. I acted without thinking, I am not good as a leader."
"Pfff. Please marry each other." The bat thief called through the room giggling.
"No forget it Rouge." The black hedgehog growled, grabbing knuckle's waist protectively.
"Ohhhhh~ seems like someone is jealous." she chuckled amused.
"What did we missed when you guys were on the ark? Are you..." The pink hedgehog gasped. "Are you two a thing?! Shadow and you knuckles?"
Before they could answer the blue hedgehog came in and grinned cocky. "I dunno if Shadow pinned knuckles on the bed just for fun~?"
The three looked at them shortly but then started to call "Ohhhhhh~" through the entire room.
Knuckles face was priceless. Completely red again, like when shadow placed a kiss on his neck before.
Shadow had a kind of emotionless face to show everybody that he would not care about their reaction.

"Also I need to disappoint you Knux." The blue hero started speaking. "We can't transform you back, not yet. Tails is making sure that everything is working correctly. So yeah you have to stay cat alike for a few minutes more."
"I'm sure our big boy can handle this." The bat grinned, walking towards the red one and started to pet him.
"Ayyy! Stop. I am not a pet you baddie theif!" He hissed, starting to run meowing and hiding behind the striped hedgehog.
"Naaw why won't you let me touch you?" Rouge teased, following him.
"Shadz help me." Knuckles whined, grabbing the dark hedgehogs hand.
"Nah, I think you got this, knux." Shadow giggled blushing a little.
"Please. I'm begging you." He pleaded, shifting to his cat form and jumped on the others shoulder, then climbing up to the quills.
The hedgehog sighed, grabbing the cat and holding it in his arms. "you have such nerves climbing up on me with your claws." Shadow said while petting the little cat in his arms.
"Naaw he is so cute." Amy sqeaked, trying to touch him too. Shadow and Rouge were expecting him to bite her, but he didn't. He let her pet him.
"Huh? Why didn't you bite her?" Rouge wondered as she tried to toch him. But he bit her, same with Shadow.
"I'm getting Knuxamy vibes." Rouge hissed, rubbing the wound on her hand.
The cat glared at her, hissed and pushed his face in the ebony's shirt.
"Maybe you are all petting hin to rough?" the pink one said, still petting the cat.
"Pfff. Or maybe knuckles wants to battle against me, since we had no time for that." sonic, who still was standing on the same spot.
The cats ears perked up, glaring at sonic in excitement. Knuckles jumped down, shifting back. "Heck yeah. I'm gonna kick your ass." He yelled grinning, clenching his fists as he followed Sonic outside to fight him.
"These two." Amy rolled with his eyes.
"What? These two are fighters. I wanna watch them." the jakal howled and followed them.

The red striped hedgehog didn't followed him instead he walked to Tail's workshop, checking on the fox.
"Hey foxboy." He greeded him. Tails turned to him. He seemed to be very tired but smiled at him. "Hey Shadow. What are you doing here?" He panted.
"I wanted to check on you, since you're working your butt off. So how are you doing?"
"I'm almost done with everything. I just need one more hour or two." Tails told him yawning.
"Maybe you should take a break." shadow suggested.
"Sonic said that too, but I can't. I am the reason why Knuckles is now a cat echidna hybrid, so I will fix this."
"Knuckles doesn't seem too bothered being a half kitten, so take a break Tails. Also it's not your fault. It's Eggman's."
"Mhm maybe you're right. I will take a break." sighed the fox, walking inside of the house.
The dark hedgehog in the meantime walked outside, where he saw knuckles fighting against his blue clone.
