"I love you..."

"Three silly words I so dreadfully hate,
Three silly words that you used so often,
Three silly words that I'd always say back
Three silly words that I wish were forgotten.

A romantic fantasy filled with nothing but lies-
False hope,
False promises,
Hate how your eyes were never on mine.

Late night of August,
Or was it was the before Christmas,
Maybe starting with the new year,
Each time bringing me more joy than the last,
Only to be dropped down from the top floor.

Stare at me from a far,
Tell me that you love me,
I know it was never real,
Reaching out as you tried to flee.

Why did you come back?
There was no room for you here,
I told you to leave,
Yet you sat and always stayed near.
And just when I thought you were really mine,
You disappeared,
Always at my most crucial times.

Keep telling me those rotten lies,
Those three silly words,
You forced me to cut ties,
And we were both left with burns.

You were never mine,
And I was never yours,
It was the right words,
At the wrong time,
Now we're just strangers with memories,
Walking our own separate lines.

All your love turned me bitter,
All your hate made me sweet,
All I can say now is,
Fool me once, shame on you,
Fool me twice, shame on me . . .
