Mikuru Truly Like Mikoto

Mikoto could feel someone sitting next to her. It didn't feel like someone who would threaten her well being, but Mikoto wasn't about to let anyone she didn't know be closer to her than completely necessary.

She could feel a cold hard floor underneath her, in high contrast to the bed she was in at Nudist Beach. Her eyelids could barely keep out the light from the sickeningly bright flood lights above her.

Mikoto rolled onto her stomach, shielding her eyes from the lights, and rolling into someone who had been squatting, like a catcher in baseball.

"Hey! Wakey wakey! Useless swine!" Mikuru's annoying voice broke through the silence of the room.

'Of course.' Mikoto thought to herself, opening her eyes to find the girl watching TeleDeath sleep.

"You took most of the impact from the fall...thank you." Mikuru said, calmly, not taking her eyes from the sleeping girl.

Mikoto was taken back as she had never seen that look on anyone's face, much less her own. "It's fine. I knew that neither of you would be able to take that fall."

"It wasn't always like this." Mikuru said, not seeming to hear Mikoto. "It used to be that I would sit at home and eat dinner with my family. I used to cry when I saw something get hurt, even if it was a butterfly."

Mikoto stared at her complete opposite, red eyes and all. She couldn't even imagine a little Accelerator, much less this version of her being nice.

"My family was murdered by Ryuko's Elite. Her mother had said that I could be a liability, meaning that I had to be kept under supervision for the rest of my life. That's how I met TeleDeath." She looked longingly at the small girl that was much like Kuroko. "When you said that name during the fight, I wondered if you knew her. But, I couldn't be sure, not knowing her name myself." Mikuru looked back up at Mikoto, her eyes glistening with tears. "I couldn't imagine what it would be like without TeleDeath, she is the only person I can care for. I have no one else. I don't love her like in a relationship kind of way, no, I love her as my family. I make her uncomfortable so that she can at least understand that people have feelings. I do it, so that I remember that I have feelings."

Mikuru began to cry. A crying that showed how long she had bottled it up inside. Proving that when you don't cry for a long time, you cry hard. Mikoto sat up, ignoring her aching body to comfort herself. She smiled, remembering the Clones she kept close to herself like they were sisters. A moment later, she remembered how Mikuru had murdered two people she had know in the other world. Her smile faded.

'I'd promised I would save them...and here I am, hugging their murderer." Mikoto ignored the thought, not wanting to hurt the other girl any more than she already was.

"Stop crying." Mikoto said suddenly. Mikuru looked at her, her eyes still filled with tears. "You don't want to make her think you're weak when she wakes up do you?"

Mikuru shook her head and pulled herself together.

A moment later, a hiss sounded as a door opened behind Mikoto, making her turn and see Satsuki had been standing watch, keeping her eye on that same door. Ryuko Accelrrator and Nui walked in, Nui smiling, Accelerator shivering and Ryuko as solemn as ever.

"We have decided that Mikoto and I will fight. Nui has declined to fight Mikuru." Ryuko announced, sword on the ground, and legs spread apart.

"Now I know how annoying I must have been to her." Satsuki muttered in the corner.

"Mikoto." Isshin whispered from another corner of the room.

Mikoto nodded, already knowing that she had no room to lose. "I'm ready when you are." Mikoto said.

Ryuko grinned and pulled out her blade, but stopped short. She had found a hand, sticking out of her chest.

A swirling began, Ryuko's face contorted in pain, knowing she was dying. She turned, to find that the sniveling Accelerator had turned into one with no fear or pain, his look was that of a maniac, showing that he was Mikoto's Accelerator.

"I needed some time to murder you myself. Tch!" Accelerator growled. "I couldn't be beat by some idiot."

Ryuko screamed, her body tearing itself apart as Accelerator reversed the blood flow in her body.

Mikoto stared, not knowing what to do. She was splattered with her friend's blood, knowing that it was over. She remembered Nui, but couldn't find her anywhere.

A flash of light illuminated the room, the same response that Isshin had described to her about Ryuko dying.

Mikoto could hardly believe that with all the trouble she went through, all that would end it would be the Accelerator from her own world.

The light from where Ryuko had been, grew brighter and brighter, until all that everyone saw was a bright light.

And that's all there was. Light.
