CHAPTER 8For the next few days Tre couldn't get me to talk. I would wake up then eat and then cry and then sleep. He held me for days on end. I never knew that emotional pain could turn physical so quickly.
On the days leading up to his funeral I still wouldn't talk. Tre was patient with me and very caring. He was very gentle with me and how he talked was always affectionate. He didn't question how I grieved and I loved him even more for it.
On the day of the funeral I finally spoke for the first time in days.
" Can you zip up my dress ", My voice cracked.
" Y-yeah baby ", said Tre.
I turned around as Tre zipped up my dress. We both drove down to the funeral. I had cried so much the last few days that I didn't think it was possible to do it again but I ended up crying. During the service I saw my strung out mother walk in. She wasn't crying but her eyes were puffy. Her pupils landed on me and I felt like I saw a ghost.
" What the fuck is she doing here ", I hissed.
" Who ", said Tre. He looked around.
" My fucking mother ", I said.
" That's her child Y/n ", said Tre with sad eyes.
I rolled my eyes at him and walked over to her. I didn't have the energy to be disrespectful towards her today.
" Hi ....Ma ", I said.
" Hi....how are you ", she addressed me so formally as if she hadn't birthed me.
" I've been...managing. Are you okay. Do you need anything ? ", I said with hopeful eyes.
" N-No.... I just came to watch. I'll be gone after. I swear ", she shook her head.
" Okay well....I'll see you. You still have my number right ", I asked.
" Um Yeah. But hey, who are you staying with ? Do you need a place ? Cause I could get you a bread and breakfast for real cheap ", she dug in her purse.
I felt a hand on my shoulder.
" Hi. I'm Trevante. I'm Y/n 's boyfriend. You're y/n 's mom ? ", he asked.
" Yes I'm Tammy. I was just asking y/n about who she was staying with ", said my mom.
" Me ", he smiled politely.
Tre looked in my eyes and I looked back at his. He was so beautiful. He always came to my rescue. Always.
" Oh! Good news. Continue to take care of yourself. It's not like you need you're old lady around huh ? Hahahahaa ", she laughed nervously.
" I'll see you around ", I said sadly.
" See you ...", said my mom.
I walked away from her with Trevante. She was so strung out that she didn't care that I was staying with Tre. She didn't ask his age. She didn't even know him.
I saw many people that I hadn't seen before pop up to Dame's funeral. A lot of fake people showed up that never helped me or dame. Even when we we're in foster care for a few months, none of them came to my rescue. Thankfully dame found trevante and got money. After that he got me out of foster care and rented out a house in a quiet neighborhood.
When the service was over we had the little gathering that was always held after a funeral. There was food being served. I didn't care to eat right now. I was too focused on Tre who was now by my side talking with one of my family members. Tre was really good with small talk and my " family " really liked him. He was a very likable man when he wanted to be. His usual introvert self knew exactly when to be an extrovert. He carried the conversations for me when he knew I was too sad to hold them. He carried me. He was my crutch.
