WILL is sitting at the foot of his bed, staring at the blank wall in front of him. Not a single blink from his eyes. No movement. Nothing but silence throughout the entire house. With his brother, Jonathan, gone at college with his girlfriend, Nancy, and his mom, Joyce, out with her husband, Hopper, at Enzo's, Will is left alone which doesn't sit well with him at all.
There are times where Will likes the silence, likes no one being around. But there are also times like this one where the silence causes more commotion in his head. Causes the voices to get louder. The craving for something to shut the voices up grows stronger.
Will breaks the contact between him and the wall and gets up and goes to his desk. He crawls underneath and pries off the loose base board that leads to a hole in his wall. The hole contains bottles and bottles of Vodka, Whiskey, Rum, basically whatever alcohol crosses your mind, it's most likely in there.
Will grabs a small bottle of vodka from the back and crawls out from underneath his desk.
He takes a quick sip before pouring the rest into his water bottle. The burning sensation of the alcohol traveling down his throat used to bug the hell out of him, but lately he hasn't minded it as much. What's a little burn when it helps him through the pain of the past? ( at least for a little while)
Will grabs his water bottle and shoves it into his backpack. He throws on a sweater he finds on his bed and heads for the front door. He walks out and hops on his bike. It's almost pitch black outside which is calming to Will.
He rides his bike down the street heading to the graveyard. While walking to his spot he quickly grabs the water bottle out of his bag and takes a few sips while he walks.
He finally makes it to the spot he comes to a few times a week. He sets his bag next to the headstone that reads; Robert Newby, whose braveness will never be forgotten.
Will never really got over Bobs death. He always felt like Bob really understood him and was the only person, besides Jonathan, that he could talk to and relate to.
He twists open his water bottle and takes a few sips. Will starts to talk about school, how badly he misses Jonathan, his mom, his friends, life, basically everything that he feels like he can't talk to anyone else about.
Will oddly finds comfort in expressing every feeling in his body to something that can't reply, something that can't judge, can't lie to him. Just getting it off his chest and put into the open air is really refreshing for him.
He starts talking about his best friend, Mike, which is a consistent topic in these visits. Will and Mike have been best friends for as long as they can remember. Since that one recess in kindergarten, Mike went up to Will on the swingest, Will was alone, like usual, and Mike sits next to him, asking to be his friend. Will never had friends before Mike, he was his very first.
Lately Will has been getting more and more distant from Mike. He doesn't fully understand why. It could be because of the whole drinking thing. Will would hate for him to find out, he would just try all he could to stop him, and as much as Will knows he should, he can't. But there is another possible reason why Will is pushing his best friend away.
For as long as Will can remember he has always felt different, an outcast if you will. He's always been picked on, left out, called names. But every time a kid would pick on him, Mike is always there to stand up for him, always there to give him a shoulder to cry on. Mike has always been a great friend to Will, but there are times where Will can't stop but think what things would be like if they were more.
