“WELCOME to my humble abode. Please, feel at home,” I cheerily said when we got inside my apartment. “Hi, my kittens. We have a visitor. Be nice to him, okay?” Then I squatted to pet my cats, who welcomed us.
“Now I understand why you climbed that tree just to save a cat. You love them,” I heard Bible say, who watched me pet my kittens with a soft smile on his face.
I stood up and faced him and said, “Of course, I do love them. They are my only family, after all.” Then I smiled at him like it was just a normal thing. It’s precisely normal though.
Bible’s smile slowly faded. “I’m sorry,” then he said like he was sorry because I only have cats as my family.
So, I softly laughed and nudged him. “Why are you apologizing? Do you feel sorry because I only have cats in my family?”
“It’s not that I---” I cut him.
“Don’t feel sorry, because I’m happy with my kittens. They amuse me, they kill my boredom, fill my loneliness. I’m happy. So, don’t you dare pity me, okay?” Then I softly laughed again.
And there, what I’ve said brought back the smile on Bible’s handsome face. “That’s good to hear. I’m glad you’re happy,” then he announced sincerely.
I smiled widely and nudged him again. “Don’t be so dramatic.” I laughed faintly and pointed to my couch. “Sit there and wait for me to finish cooking.” I smiled when he immediately did what I told him.
Obedient handsome detective. I mentally giggled.
I opened the television that I seldom use, so he could watch to entertain himself while waiting for me, before I walked to my kitchenette.
But of course, before I started cooking, I served him some refreshments first.
How did we end up here in my house? I smirked. When I asked him for lunch, he didn’t answer right away. He seemed surprised by my sudden invitation. And I couldn’t blame him for that.
But when he recovered from his shock, he didn’t gave me a disappointing answer. Without hesitation, he accepted my invitation. I’m glad.
At first, he suggested eating at a restaurant near our location. I was about to agree, but I’ve thought of a better idea. Instead of eating in a restaurant, I invited him to my house and told him that I’m a good cook, and I’m willing to cook my best dish for him.
I almost laughed when, once again, he halted and didn’t respond right away. He gets shocked so easily, pft. Cute. But when he recovered from his shocks, he didn’t give me a disappointing answer. Once again, he agreed and accepted my suggestion.
So, we end up here. I smirked. I didn’t expect it to be this easy. I thought I’d be going to have a hard time taming him, since he looks like a tough detective. But I think I was wrong. This is going to be so easy.
As I told him, I’m going to cook my best dish. This is special, because this dish was my adoptive mom’s favorite. I only cook this for special people. And as far as I remember, the last time I cooked this dish for someone was when my mom was still alive.
Bistek, this was my mom’s favorite. I weakly smiled. I sighed and shooed away her memory. I don’t want to feel sad today. This day should be chirpy.
