Crimson Wood, Hallony.

FORTUNATELY, I was still able to catch him, despite being shocked by his unnoticed jump. But we both end up on the grass. He’s not lightweight.

Aww… my arms…

I feel like I broke my arms. I saw the man immediately stand up while still holding the cat. Thus, I immediately stood up too, trying to ignore my aching arms.

“Thank you so much for helping me,” he said, while smiling at me. I couldn’t help but to stare at his face.

He’s handsome and has a cute smile.

“Mister?”

I cleared my throat. “You’re welcome. Be careful next time,” I said. What was that? Did I just stared at his face? Why? Did I really find him handsome? What the hell?

I mentally shook my head and shooed away those weird thoughts and smiled back at him.

“Are you alright? Did you hurt your arms?” He noticed how I grimaced while massaging my aching arms. He looks worried while looking at my arms.

“I’m alright. How ’bout you? Are you alright? Are you hurt?” I asked while checking his body to see if he somehow hurt himself. But he seems okay--- and he has a nice body. What the hell, Bible?!

I ignored my thoughts and just focused on talking with this man I haven’t know the name yet.

“I’m alright, don’t worry.” Then he smiled again. “By the way, I’m Build.” He suddenly introduced himself while stretching his hand to me. “I want to thank you again for helping me save this little kitten. What’s your name?”

I immediately accepted his hand. It’s soft. “Detective Wichapas Sumettikul. But for less formality, just call me Bible.”

“You’re a detective?” He looks shocked after knowing that I’m a detective.

I faintly laughed and answered, “Yes. Why do you look so shocked? Don’t I look like one? Pft,” then I joked.

He laughed as well. “I’m kinda shocked. I’m sorry, I just didn’t expect it. Anyway, it’s a nice job. Nice meeting you, Detective Bible.”

“Nice meeting you too, Build.” I smiled at him. “So… be careful next time? If you see a cat stuck in a tall tree again, find someone who can help you. Don’t climb the tree by yourself. It’s dangerous.”

“I noted that. Thank you.” Then he laughed softly.

“That’s good. So…” I cleared my throat. “I’ve gotta go---”

“Wait!” he cut me, so I looked at him asking. He sweetly smiled. “Would you mind if I invite you to have some coffee? Just to show my gratitude for helping me.”

I stared at him, couldn’t answer immediately. But he waited patiently for my response with a sweet smile on his face.

What the… how could a man have this kind of sweet and cute smile?

I cleared my throat. “You don’t have to. But if you insist, I will feel bad to reject your invitation.”

His smile became wide. “That’s great!” then he cheerily stated.

So, we ended up in a nearby café, ordering espresso with blueberry cheesecake. And Build insisted on paying for it, so I just let him.

“Being a detective is interesting. Why did you choose that profession?” Build asked after sipping his cup of coffee.
