Rider's P.O.V

He glared at me as if I had just insulted him. "You're really asking me that question?" He stepped closer to me.

"Yes, I am. It's clear to me that I've been nothing, but a burden to you. So why not get rid of me." I glared at him.

He gawked at me unimpressed. "You haven't been a burden to me." He sighed staring at the floor. "I like having you around." He carefully spared a glance at me.

I was completely speechless. "You like having me around?" I asked flabbergasted. He nodded with a pout on his lips. "Why?" I raised an eyebrow.

He closed the space between us and wrapped his arms around my waist. He kept his eyes locked with mine the entire time. Slowly, he lowered his lips to mine. I was a little bit stunned. Roux had just taken my first kiss. "Stop thinking." He muttered against my lips. "Just kiss me." He whispered before he knotted his fingers in my hair and pulled me closer to him. He moved his mouth against mine slowly so that my bottom lip was caught between his own. He kissed me passionately again so that his bottom lip was now caught in between mine. I wondered if he's have the nerve to french kiss me.

"Ahem, am I interrupting?" An all too familiar voice said from behind us.

Roux glanced above my head and smirked. "Cairo." He sounded amused. "What are you doing here?"

"Can't a fella just stop by?" He smiled, I could tell that he was joking by the way Roux's grip had tightened on me.

"No." Roux said sharply.

"You're right." He said bitterly. "Your father has decided to make a sort of hunt of your capture."

"What do you mean?" Roux asked confused.

"I mean, the Adumbration isn't your only worry now." Cairo shifted to the other side of the room. "They've pretty much gotten everyone after you."

Roux bit his bottom lip worried and I couldn't help, but notice how gorgeous he is. "When did you find this out?" He asked, remaining calm.

"Just today." Cairo had his back to us. He was staring at something outside the window. "By the looks of things, you've already figured what you must do."

Roux nodded. "And what exactly is that?" I asked.

"I must return to my home." Roux sighed.

"Okay. So we'll get packing." I said while I nervously ran my fingers across his cheek. He shut his eyes and lent his face in closer to my touch.

"You're not coming, Rider." He said softly.

My eyebrows shut up. "Why the hell not?"

"Cairo, mind-" Cairo intercepted before Roux could finish.

"Yeah, I'll chat with Beth." He rushed toward the door. Wait, Beth is here?

"Look, Rider." Roux said gaining my attention. "I'll let the Adumbration get you while I visit my family and I'll get you back once I've returned." His voice was filled with promise and his eyes pleading.

"No." Was all I said as I unwrapped myself from his slight warm grip.

"What?" He asked stunned.

"You can't just give me away and then try rescue me like I'm property! Besides, how do you know you'll get me back or that you won't die?" I questioned regrettably.

He chuckled. "I'm already dead, Rider." He joked. I sighed and flopped my hair behind my ears. He stepped closer to me and gently wrapped his cold fingers around my shoulders. "I don't. Okay? I don't know what could possibly happened, but I don't want you to get hurt either. The safest option is to leave you with them." He frowned.

He ran me over and now he wants to adopt me!?!Where stories live. Discover now
