                              Rider’s P.O.V
I couldn’t help the flush that overcame my cheeks seeing Cairo, and know what he might have seen. “So…” I began uncomfortably, clearing my throat. Roux had gone out to get his secret supplies, which left Cairo and I alone in the kitchen.
Cairo gave me a knowing smile. “Either way, I would’ve seen it in Roux’s thoughts.” He winked.
I gave a surprised yelp. “You know, that really doesn’t help.” I muttered.
He chuckled. “I’d rather be honest with you than lie.” He shrugged.
I poured myself a cup of orange juice and barely glanced at him. “Have you made any progress with Aria?” I asked casually. When he didn’t answer I looked up at him.
He was watching me with squinted eyes. “You’re judging me about being with Beth now that I know Aria is still alive.” He stated blandly.
I raised an eyebrow. “Well, I’m worried about what exactly is going to happen.” I said sitting down on one of the stools.
“Look, I will always love Aria. There’s no doubt in my mind, but I have something with Beth and I’m going to be with Beth.” He gave me a weak smile. “On-the-other-hand, Beth does have another interest too.” He tweaked an eyebrow.
    “Who?” I asked confused.
He chuckled gruffly. “He’s an alpha in the pack she belongs to.”
My head cocked back in surprise. “So you two are friends with benefits.”
He titled his head to the side nodding. “I guess. But the point is, we aren’t going to leave each other unless we’ve agreed to it.” He said sternly.
“But if you see Aria you don’t know what your reaction will be.” I suggested. I heard the front door open and listened to the footsteps as they made way toward the kitchen. Suddenly, Beth was running past me into Cairo’s arms. They kissed and when they broke apart, Beth turned to me. Her eyes widened in recognition.
“Rider!” She ran over and hugged me. “Are you alright? They didn’t do anything to hurt you did they?”
I laughed a little. “No! Why would they?” I asked with arch eyebrows.
She shook her head with a sumptuous smile. “I don’t know.” She hugged me again.
“I’m with Roux.” I whispered in her ear. She looked back at me, squealed, and hugged me again.
“Ohmigod! I knew it!” She jumped while hugging me. I laughed and released myself a bit uncomfortable by the girlish gesture. A moment later, Roux came storming.
“Okay, we’re set to go.” He ensured Cairo. “Beth.” He said nodding.
She smiled and gave him a wink. He scowled at her before walking over to me. “Can you check if you can get in touch with Illyria?” He asked softly.
“And tell her what?” I asked with knitted eyebrows.
“That we’d like to meet her here.” He answered automatically. “We’ve got to meet up before the night of Pristine, especially if they’ve got the help of Lilith.”

                  -----*'*-----
“Fetillo.” Cairo said very cautiously. I could see the warning in his eyes and it sent a chill through my spin. Illyria walked over with her hair flowing, her eyes aimed at Roux.
“Roux.” She said. He nodded and followed her into the living room, where Fetillo and Cairo had stored away. Beth sauntered over to me.
    “Hey.” She said.
“Hi.” I gave her a weak smile.
    “What’s wrong?” She frowned.
I shrugged. “I don’t know. I just feel sort of useless.” I said uneasily.
She nodded in understanding. “So do I, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters is if we’re all safe.”
I nodded. Shifting my attention back to the living room. Everyone was speaking in hushed tones. I tried not to get annoyed, so I hurried back upstairs in hopes of a forming a plan myself.
