Kasvald kept eating, only now in a far calmer manner. He kept stealing glances at the woman in front of him, still wondering why she acted so calmly toward him and his brother. His icy eyes scanned her completely, trying to find a clue, yet nothing came.
"Looking for something, Tomato?" Sighed Solace while looking up from her plate.
"Why would you- uh, whatever." Kasvald stuttered, irritated. His nose scrunched with frustration. "Why aren't you afraid of us?" He asked at last, deciding a direct approach was best.
"Why should I be?" She inquired with a smirk as she left her fork on the table and crossed her arms.
"What do you mean "Why should I be?"?? We locked you up here, knocked your lights out, mistreated you and we clearly overpower you!!!" He exclaimed, clearly frustrated.
"Well, I guess you'll have to find that out yourself. But I recommend you leave it at 'YoU'rE nAWt LikE aWDeR gIRLs' so that you don't fry that little brain of yours." the ash-haired woman winked in a provoking manner, looking back down at her food.
"Oh, aren't you lovely..!" Kasvald mumbled through gritted teeth. He sighed and ran his hand through his fluffy hair. "What do you even have against that? Can't you take the damn compliment?"
"Compliment?" She asked, looking back at him. "Did you seriously take generalizing the badass half of the world but setting me apart as a compliment?" Solace snapped. "Why do you insist on making me believe I'm so different from other women? So I don't think about looking for help since some person told me I wasn't a "frivolous" person who "only cares about herself" like "other women"?!" She continued, the volume of her voice increasing with every word. "Well, newsflash: I do only care about myself at the moment."
"Geez, woman; why are you thinking about it so much?! Don't start with that bullshit. It is a compliment: it means you're special. You're overreacting." Kasvald raised his voice in annoyance. His anger was clearly taking over him, but Solace was too caught up in her own wrath to notice.
"Why?? Because you don't want me to believe in my capabilities?!" Solace yelled, getting up from her seat. "So you can manipulate me more easily?!!"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP." The redhead yelled back as he abruptly stood up up.
Silence.
One so loud one would think they're going deaf.
That was all until Kasvald rapidly walked towards her and swiftly cornered her to the fridge without even touching her.
"You are my property. I choose what to do with you: I don't have to trick you into anything. You do as I say..." He hissed inches away from her face.
He paused for a minute to examine her fearless expression. Soon after, leaning into her ear, he whispered, his voice as sharp as a dagger:
"If I didn't need you intact, you would already be dead, princess. I'm trying to make this as enjoyable as possible for you: be thankful."
"And you wonder why you're still single...." She rolled her eyes at him.
"Did you not hear me? I could kill you." Kasvald hissed while moving slightly back, looking down upon her.
"Precisely: you could, but you won't. I'm responding because you can't lay a hand on me." Solace reminded him, never shying away as she stepped forward. "You need me, for whatever reason, and you need me intact."
"Don't you play smart with me, you-"
"Or what?" She took another step forward, keeping eye contact while he stepped back. Silence enveloped the scene once more. With each passing second, Kasvald's heartbeats were more frequent. He walked back subconsciously and shrunk until he was against the kitchen island again, looking straight into her eyes. Solace looked at him up and down, noticing his anxiousness and how he thickly swallowed.
"Truth of the matter is... you're more afraid than I am."
And with that, she walked back to her seat and kept eating.
"Oh, before you forget: don't you ever use that tone with me again, especially since you had to tiptoe to try to intimidate me. And yes, I did notice." She spat while Kasvald shivered. A low growl escaped him, but he sat down without causing any further scandals.
Unbeknownst to them, another figure spied on them; eyes widened in surprise with a satisfied smile: his new partner knew how to handle herself. Esvidaijah let a relieved sigh escape him, now knowing things should go smoothly.
